  1. 1837 North Street, Newington, Surrey (baptisms of William)
1841 Census - White Horse Yard, Kent Road, St George the Martyr, Surrey
1851 Census - 5 George Street, Newington, Surrey
1861 Census - 11 New Street, Newington, Walworth, Surrey.
1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London
1891 Census - 17 Newport Street, Lambeth, London
It is interesting to note that on the 1861 Census in searching for Alfred ARNOLD, the eldest son above, three sons came up all being born in the right period and in the right area, looking at the other two, the fathers were not William so I think this confirms that I have the right family above. I would think the other two are connected. On my searches on the later Censuses our family appeared to be the only one living in exactly the right area.
  2. 1830 Dean Street, Westminster London (at baptism) Parents Edward (Hairdresser) and Ann Mary LEE
1861 Census - 11 New Street, Newington, Walworth, Surrey.
1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London
1891 Census - 17 Newport Street, Lambeth, London
On the 1861 Census, Sophia is shown as being born in Westminster, Middlesex, on the 1881 Census, she is shown as being born in Southwark, I did not note where her birth was stated on the 1871 or 1891 Census. Places of birth for the children varies on the Censuses between Newington and Walworth
  3. 1861 Census - 11 New Street, Newington, Walworth, Surrey.
1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
I have found on the 1881 Census an Alfred ARNOLD, born in Newington, Surrey, living in Lancashire, of about the correct age. He was a Looking Glass Silverer and there was a lodger also from Newington, Surrey. I think this is the correct person, but there is another Alfred ARNOLD, born in Walworth, Surrey, living in Brighton, Sussex who could equally be the correct person, so have only put this Note in at present.
  4. 1861 Census - 11 New Street, Newington, Walworth, Surrey.

  5. 1861 Census - 11 New Street, Newington, Walworth, Surrey.
1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
  6. 1861 Census - 11 New Street, Newington, Walworth, Surrey.
1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
  7. 1861 Census - 11 New Street, Newington, Walworth, Surrey.
1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London

1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London
  8. 1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London
    1882 14 Porthead St, Walworth.
1891 Census - 40 Harper Street, Greengrocer's Shop, Newington, London, two boarders on this Census, both Greengrocers
1901 Census - 26 Townley Street, Newington, Walworth, London
  9. 1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London
  10. 1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London

1892 - 10 Brandon Street, Walworth, Surrey (at baptism of Fanny)
1893 - 78 Henshaw Street, Walworth, Surrey (at baptism of Louisa and Lilian)
1894 - 78 Henshaw Street, Walworth, Surrey (at baptism of Eleanor Julia)
1901  - 14 Sutherland Road, Walworth, Newington, London. There was a boarder a William MURPHY aged 30 a Hawker and General Dealer born Camberwell, London
1904 - 14 Sutherland Place, Walworth, Newington, London (at marriage of Samuel to Nellie) Samuel's father William down as a Fish curer
1905 - 14 Sutherland Place, Walworth, Newington, London (at baptism of Sarah)
I found th is family on the 1901 Census and found to my surprise that Samuel had married again to a Nellie who was only 21 years ago, so assume that Florence died between 1891 and 1901. As Samuel is shown as only four months on the Census I have put him as the son of Samuel and Nellie. This could be wrong. The Census actually says second wife which is most unusual. They were living at 14 Sutherland Road, Walworth, Newington, London
  11. 1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London
  12. 1871 Census - 11 Hard Street, Newington, Walworth, London
1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London

  13. 1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London
1891 Census - 17 Newport Street, Lambeth, London
  14. 1881 Census - 32 Orb Street, Newington, London
1891 Census - 17 Newport Street, Lambeth, London

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
