    Mr Arthur Leslie Attwood, Newlands-road, decribed the approach of the car, and the crash into the wall. Petts told him "There is an old man lying back there.". He proceeded to the spot. He guessed the speed of the car at 40-50 miles per hour.
    Amy Martha Austin, Newlands-road, Worthing, said she was with Attwood. The car was coming "faster than cars usually did." She described the course of the car when it mounted the pavement, crashed into the wall, retained the road, and stopped on the other side of Heene-road.

    Document Produced in Court
    A document signed by the defendant in which he said he would give up the tenanacy of a flat when his employment terminated was produced at Worthing County Court yesterday when Mortimers' Dairies, who registered office is at 51, Farm-road, Hove, claimed possession of 7a, The Crescent, Goring-road, Worthing, occupied by Arthur Leslie Attwood.
    Mr. R. V Stapleton (Messrs. Nowels and Stevens) appeared for the plantiff and Mr. A. Cooby (Messrs. Charles, Malcolm & WIlson) for the defendant.
    LET WITH EMPLOYMENT
    Frederick Charles Hill, a director of the firm, said the flat was let to the defendant in consequence of his employment at a milk roundsman.
    When the defendatn was demobilised he tole Mr. Hill that he was looking for another house, and Mr. Hill wished him Luck.
    When the document signed by the defendant was produced, Mr. Cobby said he had not seen this before.
    An order was made for possession with costs.

    Peter Smith, aged 21, of Bury-drive, Goring, was fined 10s. at Worthing on Wednesday for riding a cycle with no rear light after dark in Goring-road on April 18th.

    Maundy marks life of service
    CHICHESTER CATHEDRAL last week welcomed the Queen for the traditional Maundy money ceremony. It was the first time that Chichester had been chosen for the service.
    Crowds, estimated by police to be at least 15,000 lined the cit'ys cobbled streets, but the day really belonged to 120 Sussex pensioners who took part in the centuries-old event.
    The pensioners, two for each year of the Queen's age, were drawn from congregations of all denominations throught the county.
    Long-serving work in the community and church led to recommendations for the Maundy Honour - recommendation that became reality last Thursday.
    The Queen, escorted by Prince Phiip, walked the length of the Maundy recipients' line and handed each person two leather purses.
    The White leather pouch continaed the Maundy coins themses. The 1p, 2p, 3p and 4p coins total 60p 
    The red leather purse contain £5.50 in ordinary currency. This represented an ancient allowance fo clothing and food.
    Proud families gathered to watch the ceremony, Mrs Dulci Jenkins, 79 or Shaftsbury Avenue Worthing received the Maudny money under the watchful eyes of her daughters. Mrs Phyllis Surridge and Mrs Betty Jones. Mrs Jenkins is supervisor at the Goring United Reformed Church creche.
    Lifetime
    A lifetime of helping young people was also given the Royal seal of approval when Mrs Amy Attwood 75 took her place in te Maundy line-up. Mrs Attwood, of Mulberry Garden, Goring is a member of Worthing Batpist Church where she ran the Sunday School for 15 years in all and also started a girl's youth club.

Her matron of honour was Mrs Margaret Jones, who wore a short dress of pale apricot satin.

    Lorry caused obstruction
    Peter Roy Attwood, a lorry driver of Barrington-road, Worthing, was fined £2 by Worthing magistrates on Wednesday for Causing an unnecessary obstruction with his lorry in Barrington road on June 8. He pleaded guilty.
    Seargeant Edward Street said Mr Attwod's five ton goods vehicle was parked with the front and nearside wheels on the pavement.
    Mr Attwood said the road was not very wide and if he had parked with the nearside wheels against the kerb a lorry which passed along Barrington-road to the sewage disposal plant between 5 and 7 p.m would not have got through.
