  1. 1881 Census - I have found a Catherine of the right age born in Minster, but married and living in Tilmanstone, so I think this is the correct Catherine. Her husband William BEAN was 36 years old and an Ag Lab born in Tilmanstone, Kent (his parents appear to be living next door, Catherine was 36 and born in Minster, Kent. Their children were Thomas BEAN, son, age 13, Ag Lab born Tilmanstone, Kent, Henry BEAN, son age 7 Scholar, born Tilmanstone, Kent, Eliza BEAN, daughter, age 5, Scholar, born Tilmanstone, Kent, Kate BEAN, age 2, born Tilmanstone, Kent and Emma Bean, daughter, age 9 months born Tilmanstone, Kent. Their was also a Lodger, a John Bowman, born Tilmanstone, Kent. The were living in Upper Street, Tilmanstone, Kent. To find on Census look at RG11/0996 Folio 50 Page 10
  2. 1891 Census - Church Cottages, Nonington, Kent - William H BEAN, Head, age 46, Ag Lab, born Tilmanstone, Kent, Katherine BEAN, wife, age 46 born Minster, Kent, Thomas BEAN, age 23 Ag Lab born  Tilmanstone, Kent,  Henry BEAN, age 17 Carpenters? Apprentice, born Tilmanstone, Kent, Kate BEAN, age 12 Scholar, born Tilmanstone, Kent, Emma BEAN, age 10, born Tilmanstone, Kent, Alice Maud BEAN, age 8 Scholar, born Tilmanstone, Kent, Fanny BEAN, age 5, Scholar, born Tilmanstone, Kent. There was also a lodger, a James BOWMAN, age 61 an Ag Lab born Eastry, Kent
  3. 1901 Census - Upper Street, Tilmanstone, Kent. William Bean now 56 and a Labourer Agricultural, born Tilmanstone,  his wife Catherine, age 56, born Minster, Kent and their grandson Albert Bean, age 6  born Tilmanstone, Kent. Their was a lodger, Frederick BARTLETT, age 36 born Eastry, Kent a Waggoner on farm. It looks as though when I put the various charts on there will be further charts for the next generation, now having Grandchildren appearing.
  4. 1861 Census - Catherine SETTERFIELD was a House Servant age 17, born Minster, Kent for a William Reeman at Eden, Minster, Kent
  5. 1871 Census - Catherine BEAN was married and I think this confirms that indeed Catherine SETTERFIELD married William BEAN as next door is  William SETTERFIELD her brother and his wife Sarah. They are living at Upper Street, Tilmanstone, Kent. William BEAN is 26 and an Ag Lab born in Tilmanstone, Kent. Catherine is 26 and born in Minster, Kent and their son Thomas is 3 born in Tilmanstone, Kent. There appears to be a lot of BEAN families in Tilmanstone and on a lot of the Censuses there is another William Bean about 23 years older than our William BEAN either living next door or very close to our BEAN family. I believe this to be the father of our William. This completes the Census information for Catherine between 1860 and 1901.
  6. 1901 Census - Thomas BEAN was married and living at 21 Dane Hill, Margate, Kent. No children on census but we have not placed Albert BEAN Grandson, Age 6 born Tilmanstone, Kent in Note 3.
  7. 1901 Census - Henry BEAN was married and living at 27 Belgars? Road, Dover, Kent. They had a daughter, so will do a Chart of this family.
  8. 1901 Census and BMD site - Searched for a Kate born in Tilmanstone in 1878 and came up with Kate CASH, the only one that matched. Found only one Kate BEAN who married a Walter CASH on the BMD site, so I am happy this is the correct person.
  9. 1901 Census - Alice was a Servant at 15 Athelstone Road, Margate, Kent, General Domestic, Aged 18, born Tilmanstone, Kent. The Head of the house was an Ada Hou, A Lodging House Keeper, born St John's Wood, London. There was an Eleanor CHAPMAN, godchild, aged 15 and born in Margate, Kent with them.
  10. 1901 Census - Fanny was a Servant at Braxton Lodge, Dover, Kent, she was 17, and just down as a Servant. A Lilian Greenhalgh was the first person in the Household but down as wife, she was 29 and born in United States of American (naturalised)

I have not been able to trace Eliza or Emma BEAN on the 1901 Census.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
