    1861 Census - Crofs Road, Idle, Yorkshire 
    1871 Census - New Brighton, Idle, Yorkshire. With the family was  Martha NAYLOR, mother-in-law, aged 65 a widow a nurse, born Rawde, Yorkshire.
    1881 Census - 4 Briggate, Shipley, Yorkshire. There was a Boarder a Sarah A STRONG aged 18 born Newcastle, Northumberland, a Dressmaker with the family.
  2. 1861 Census - Crofs Road, Idle, Yorkshire 
    1871 Census - New Brighton, Idle, Yorkshire. With the family was  Martha NAYLOR, mother-in-law, aged 65 a widow a nurse, born Rawde, Yorkshire.
    1881 Census - 4 Briggate, Shipley, Yorkshire. There was a Boarder a Sarah A STRONG aged 18 born Newcastle, Northumberland, a Dressmaker with the family.
  3. 1861 Census - Thackley Lane End, Idle Yorkshire. (Coates was with his Grandparents on this Census)
    1871 Census - New Brighton, Idle, Yorkshire.
    1881 Census - 13A Field Street, Shipley, Yorkshire
    1891 Census - 28 Chassum Street, Manningham, Yorkshire. Coates had died by this Census, it would appear that Grace had a son Coates about nine months after his death, and then remarried a James J B PHILLIPS by who she had had two children by the 1891 Census.
