Obituary for Rebecca Elizabeth CANNON née SAMSEL
The Durant City Gazette: April 1927
The whole of Durant City is mourning the loss of Mrs. Rebecca Elizabeth Cannon, wife of Frank D. Cannon, of this place, who died Saturday, April 2nd. After a short illness lasting less than two weeks the hand of the grim reaper descended and another, mortal's candle of life was snuffed out. Death was due to a complications of ailments which resulted in hiccoughs. Mrs. Cannon's passing being due directly to exhaustion from this affliction. Rebecca Cannon was born in Chester, Pa. on the 14th day of March 1874. being 53 years of age at the time of her death. She married at the age of 21 years and until eleven years ago lived in and around Bradford, Pa, where her husband was employed in the oil fields. In 1916 she came to Durant City with her husband and children and has resided here since that time. Her community spirit, which led her to take an active part in the affairs of the town, was one of her most endearing attributes. Without discrimination she went into the homes of Durant City ministering to the sick and wounded, devoting a large part of her time in service to others. Her passing leaves a vacancy hard to fill and to many her memory will stand out through some service rendered. Mrs. Cannon was buried in Forest Lawn cemetery, Kane, Pa on the afternoon of April 6th. Funeral services were conducted at the Cannon home here, Rev. W. Waldo Weller, of the Methodist Episopal church of Kane, officiating. Mrs. Cannon is survived by her husband, F.D. Cannon of this place, four sons, Thomas, William and Herbert of Durant City, and George of Kane; three daughters, Mrs. P. W. Nelson, Mrs. Thomas R. Hazlett and Mrs. Edwin D. Schott, of Durant City. Submitted by Ruth A. Larson Elk County, Pa
  4. Information for this child found on McKean County Genealogy. My informant Diana SUTOR says that there was possibly a daughter for Frank and Minnie, this I think confirms this. The entry appears as such:
Cannon, Francis May, 03/11/1893 Lewis Run F F.D./Minnie Laborer. However although it appears correct the birth is too near to the date we have for the birth of John Albert CANNON.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
