  1. 1814 - I think this was when Thomas was born and baptised, however on various documents he makes himself 10 years younger than this, but because of the HAYTER in his name and the fact he came from PORTSEA I am fairly certain the information I have shown is correct.
    1851 Census - 37 East Street, Brighton, Sussex. There were two servant swith the family on this Census

    1879 13 Stockwell Green, Lambeth, London (baptisms of Alfred Edwin, Henry Thomas and Joseph Thomas)
    1881 Census - 164 Loughboro Road, Lambeth, London
    1891 Census - 121 Fentiman Road, Kennington, London. With the family was an Agnes THOMAS, sister-in-law aged50 single a Caretaker  born Paignton, Devon. As she was single I would think this was the surname of Thomas's second wife Martha

They there is Thomas aged 14 (down as Granddaughter) born Brighton, Sussex and then Mary aged 6 down as Granddaughter born New Cross, and finally a Charlotte CORKE aged 10 born East Indies, Bombay.

  9. Have not found on a Census yet but marriage shows Thomas James Hayter CHASE as father so must be part of this family. I found a Mary Louise CHASE born in 1855 in Westbourne, Surrey who I thought was the correct child, but having now found her on 1861 I do not think she is the correct child, her parents on this Census were James and Elizabeth but James is down as being born in Stoughton, Sussex in 1824 and he was a Shepherd which does not tie up with the James above. We already had details for his wife Eliza and some of the children and they were on the Isle of Wight. So where does Mary fit in. (Have now found Mary on the 1861 Census with her mother's Eliza's parents, and now also on 1871 Census. However now cannot find after marriage.

    Something not quite right about marriage of Albert Edwin, I have found marriage to Bertha in 1909 which suggests this was his second marriage and his first wife was Florence Edith according to baptisms I have found and she was born in Suffolk according to the 1901 Census, the wife he married in 1909 was Bertha Harriet and she was born in Kent BUT on the 1911 Census Bertha is down as having been married for 13 years and having had 7 children all of whom survive at the date of this Census. Which suggests Albert had only been married once. Suggestions welcome.
