  1. There is a discrepancy of age from that given on the 1881 Census to that given at death. If the death age is correct she was born in 1825 not 1832. we feel this is the correct death, as it is the only Aphalinda CHITTENDEN to be found (in fact the only Aphalinda at all) and as the address for the 1891 Census was Buckinghamshire, again it is most likely that this is the correct one.  Maybe as she was so much older than her husband she did not want him to know!
  2. 1901 Boarding at 8 Hamilton Gardens, St Marylebone, London home of William CROSBY Accountant (House Agency) age 36 born Bristol, Gloucestershire, his wife and daughter.
  3. 1891 Census - 11 Hamilton Gardens, Marylebone, London - Lathan was boarding with  Ebenezer GRANT (45) Minister of the Catholic Apostolik church, his wife, two sons and two daughters
  4. 1901 Census - 8 Hamilton Gardens, Marylebone, London - Lathan was boarding with William CROSBY Accountant (House Agency) age 36 born Bristol, Gloucestershire, his wife and daughter.
  5. 1891 Census -  "The Golden Eagle", High Street. Upton-Cum-Chalvey, Buckinghamshire. On the 1891 Census the following were also at "The Golden Eagle" on the night of the census - Eliza J LINDSEY (45) widow, Living on her own means, born Waterford, Ireland was visiting and Henry LIDDIARD (74) widower a retired builder born Arbor, Wiltshire was a boarder.
  6. Father William KERSEY, born about 1769, Suffolk, died about 1847, mother Fanny MAN, born about 1783 Badingham, Suffolk, died about 1851
  7. 1861 Census - This Census proves that Athalinda CHITTENDEN belongs to this family (see Note 2) - Living at Crook/Greek Road, Upper Tooting, Streatham, Surrey. Latham CHITTENDEN a Servant Coachman Domestic was 26 and born in Ramsgate, Kent, his wife Athalinda? CHITTENDEN was 32 and born in Netherden, Suffolk and is down as Servants wife. The Servants children were Lathan CHITTENDEN, age 3 born Brixton, Surrey and Athalinda CHITTENDEN age 1 born Lambeth, Surrey. They were in the house of a George W R Wainwright, age 37 a Solicitor born Bloomsbury, London, he had a wife and step daughter, there was a Niece with them as well. Other than the CHITTENDEN family there were four other servants with them.
  8. 1871 Census - Cottage, Hersham, Surrey (next door to "Barleymow Inn")
  9. On 23rd July 2006 I received the following email from a Karen STEWART in Australia - I read you comments of Alphalinda KERSEY - she was baptised in Wetherden 1825 the daughter of William KERSEY and Fanny MANN, so the death date indicates her correct age. She links to the ALDOUS family through her mother. (see Note 1)
  10. 1841 Census - Buttermarket, Stowmarket, Suffolk. She was a Domestic Servant on this Census to a John HEAD an Upholsterer, so had already left home. Her father  died before the 1851 Census and at present I cannot find her on this Census.
  11. Karen (see Note 9) has written again with the following: Alphalinda's mother Fanny (a Pauper) is on the 1851 census in Wetherden HO 107/1794
along with two brothers and a grandson William KERSEY, whose parents I do not know. He was born in Hadleigh, and could be the son of Robert, as I
would have thought the daughters would be too young to have a child. The eldest daughter Catherine was baptised 1821
  12. 1881 "Barleymow Inn", Walton-on-Thames, Surrey
  13. 1901 The Green, Walton, Surrey. Living with them was a servant, Harriett R MASKELL (15) Drapers Assistant born Hersham, Surrey
  14. 1881 "Barleymow Inn", Walton-on-Thames, Surrey
  15. 1891 Percy Cottage, Felcot Lane, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey
  16. 1901 Church Road, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey
  17. 1891 11 Hamilton Gardens, Marylebone, London. Boarding with Ebenezer GRANT (45) Minister of the Catholic Apostolik church, his wife, two sons and two daughters. RG12/105/96 page 18
  18. Parents, William KERSEY and Fanny MANN
  19. 1911 Census - 55a High St St Johns Wood N W. Lathan was a Boarder aged 53 a Schoolmast boarding with a Willam CROSBY who was the Head married aged 47 who occupation was Assisting wife, he was born in Southampton, Hampshire his wife was Ellen CROSBY aged 48 a Domestic Servants Agency, born Brighton, Sussex, they had a daughter, Margaret Emily CROSBY, single aged 18 an Artist born Paddington, London

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
