I assume there should also be a CARPENTER, he is head aged 42 a French Polisher born not known Sussex, then down as mother but surely wife, is Mary CARPENTER aged 40 born West of England, Somerset has been added. Or was Mary Carpenter the mother of the children whereas William MEARS was not, but William CARPENTER a French Polisher is the father given on the marriage certificate of Eliza.
