  1. The earliest baptism we have for a child of John DRING is August 1693 which is sixteen months after he married Joanne HILLS. However, this first child, and four later ones are all shown with the mother as Mary. The following eight children have Joane shown as their mother.
Jim BECK and John ROWELL have both suggested that all the children had the one mother, Joane, and that would seem to be the case, given the date of the John/Joane marriage.
However, why was Mary shown as the mother for the earlier children Angela EDMONDS has found a John DRING/Mary SMITH marriage in 1682 in All Saints, Huntingdonshire. There are, however, no children baptised in that church for these parents. It could be that John was married to this Mary, they went to Warboys where they lived for up to ten years, and because the Warboys clerk was used to "John and Mary" he put the incorrect name in the baptism register for the children of "John and Joane".
For the time being John is shown as marrying three times, but it is obvious that more research is required.???
We have no children for the marriages of John DRING to Mary SMITH or the marriage of John DRING to Elizabeth WOMERSLEY
  2. We have no children for the marriages of John DRING to Mary SMITH or the marriage of John DRING to Elizabeth WOMERSLEY

  8. The information about Hannah and Oliver comes from another society member, James BECK, of Colorado. He pointed out that Hannah was most likely a STOAKLEY. He describes them as a large, landed, non-conforming family of North-East Hunts. "They have an ample supply of wills, but a dearth of register entries..."
  9.
  10. "Edward was clearly a man of some standing in the village for he was a church warden and his name appears on two of the bells in the church. The third of the five bells is inscribed (ref VCH Hunts vol ii p246) "Edward Dring and Oliver Hills, Churchwardens. Joseph Eayre, St Neots, fecit1765" and the fifth "Allen Cowper Rector. Edward Dring and Oliver Hills, Churchwardens, 1765".

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
