There is a Constance RUTNAM returning from Australia but whose last permanent address was in India in 1928 who was 25 years old. She appears to have had a son Michael D RUTNAM aged 1 1/2 with her. The address she gives in England  is 40 Castle Street, Chesterton, Cambridgeshire. She puts her occupation as Home Duties. Seeing the family lived at 49 Castle Street in 1911 I believe that this must be this Constance. I can find nothing else for her. Her son Michael D RUTNAM however appears to have died as Michael Donald RUTNAM in May quarter 2004 in Bexley district, Kent and his birth was given as 2nd August 1926. A family tree on Ancestry gives three children for Michael but although giving Donald R as his father does not appear to have found the mother Constance.
Having found this trip to England there are several voyages for Mr Donald R RUTNAM and also for Mr D R RUTNAM from Australia, New Zealand, Ceylon and India. Addresses in this England include Dublin and London. I also think there were other children as on one voyage there is a Miss S RUTNAM aged 5, it does not appear that Donald and Constance (or Winifred who I believe to be Donald's second wife) travelled together on their trips to the other side of the world. For instance returning in 1954 on the "Orion" Constance/Winifred gives the address in England as c/o Lady de Bathe, Kensington Close, London W and her occupation as a Nurse in Ceylon. In 1938 Constance/Winifred  is returning to England on the "Orama" and gives her address as 8 Victoria Road, Dublin, occupation Home Duties and has with her a Miss S RUTNAM aged 5 both coming from Ceylon. Then for Mr D R RUTNAM we have the following: Aged 19 he returns from Australia in 1921 down as a student he is returning from Ceylon. Having now looked at his further trips, I think that Constance died and he remarried a Winifred who was born about 1896 and accompanied him on some of his later trips.
A return home in 1930 on the "Jervis Bay" for Donald R, address in England Trinity Hall Cambridge, gives his occupation as Indian Civil Service and he is returning from Colombo (living in India) and he has Master Michael RUTNAM aged 3 with him.
I think all of the trips need to be looked at to see what we can make of this family.
I think Donald's second wife Winifred died on 7th May 1985 (Times Obituary Notice) BMD has her as Winifred Cassandra RUTNAM died May 1985 Worthing district Sussex.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
