  1. 1841 16 Brandon Place, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire as Rebecca GOLDSMITH
together with Benjamin. (Information from Claire GRANTHAM 13/3/2008). In the same property was Margaret MILLS (22) not born in Cambridgeshire, Margaret MILLS  Isabel (9) and Harriet (2) all born Cambridgeshire (in that order) (Information from Claire GRANTHAM 19/5/2008, Margaret MILLS was born in Ely,  Cambridgeshire)

1861 9 Deveral Street, Trinity Newington, Newington, Surrey. Benjamin Robertson GOLDSMITH born Yoxford 1820
His baptism cannot be found in Yoxford. Claire is wondering about his name and whether he could be an illegitimate son of Robert's, although he gives William as his father on his wedding certificate.
On the death certificate of his widow in 1890 Benjamin was shown as Benjamin Robertson WILMOT
    Information from Claire GRANTHAM 18/6/2009
The is a chancery case concerning the will of a Benjamin ROBERTSON of Stockwell who left money and land for a botanic Garden which was overturned in which BEDWELLs and a William and wife Mary GOLDSMITH gave evidence. The money eventualy went to B. R's. nephew John BEDWELL. I am not sure if this is coincidence or the reason for naming Benjamin bap 1822 Benhill
Another chancery case was brought by the Reverend Parker GILBERT, Beatrice's father against
Miles READ, the husband of Beatrice's sister Henrietta. In 1869 they had also run away to be married. The Rev Parker GILBERT was trying to exclude Miles from enjoying any money that Hennrietta was likely to inherit and pressing for the cost of the action as the stamp duty was £100. This was likely to be a considerable amount so this could explain the name change to WILMOT. The birth indexes used to be open to public view and then he would have easily been able to trace them.

Using the above reference on ancestry.com in an attempt to find the address brings forth a "no matches" result! As it was page 1 of the census there was no previous page on which to look for  information. The Head of the School was Baines HAWKINS BA (Hons) (58), followed by 10 Master and Mistresses and then Sempstress, Matron and 2 Parlour Maids, all unmarried. The number of pages does not appear on findmypast so further details unavailable.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
