1861 Census - Henry was still single living with his parents at 6 ???gate Street (cannot read) Dover, Kent. His father was John GOODWRIGHT, age 57 a Licensed Porter, born Dover, Kent his wife Mary A GOODWRIGHT was 52 and also born in Dover, Kent. The children were Henry J GOODWRIGHT, age 21 a Boatman born Dover, Kent, Robert J GOODWRIGHT, age 18 a Painter, born Dover, Kent, Mary A GOODWRIGHT, age 12 a Scholar, born Dover, Kent 1871 Census - 27 Adrian Street, Dover, Kent, a brother of Robert aged 28 a Painter born St Mary, Dover was living with them 1881 Census - 7 Adrian Street, Dover, Kent, a mother was living with them, but her surname does not match what we have. It looks like Sarah SMITHELL (looks like two ll's at end but I am told it is possibly SMITHETT age 73 a widow born Dover, Kent. 1891 Census, Marine Parade Bathing Establishment, Marine Parade, Dover, Kent. Living with them was a Sarah GOODWRIGHT,48 sister, Domestic Servant, single, born Dover, Kent 1851 Census - Cannot find on this Census, but there is a Sarah SMITHETT in Dover, Kent, (see 1881 Census) aged is down as being 50 and born in Harwich, Essex. So could be Susannah's mother but she is not with her. Her husband is a William SMITHETT 52, born Dover, Kent. Superannuated but late Commissioner in HM ??? Service (cannot read ???) They had a servant a Susannah SPINNER aged 17 1861 Census -22 Council House Street, St Mary Dover, Kent. Susannah was a servant to a Henry E BINGHAM aged34 a Trinity Pilot born Kingsdown, Kent and his family. (as SMITHETT on this Census) 1871 Census - 27 Adrian Street, Dover, Kent, a brother of Robert aged 28 a Painter born St Mary, Dover was living with them 1881 Census - 7 Adrian Street, Dover, Kent, a mother was living with them, but her surname does not match what we have. It looks like Sarah SMITHELL (looks like two ll's at end but I am told it is possibly SMITHETT age 73 a widow born Dover, Kent. From the information on this Census it would appear that Susannah was born with the surname SMITHETT, and I have now found a Susannah SMITHETT on the 1861 Census born in 1845 in Folkstone as a Servant. So in 1866 she married as HALL so either she gave this name or she had a marriage between 1861 and 1866 to a HALL. I can find no marriage for a Susannah SMITHETT and I have searched all HALL marriages between 1861 and 1867 in Dover district, Kent for a marriage so something like Susannah SMITHETT without success. 1891 Census, Marine Parade Bathing Establishment, Marine Parade, Dover, Kent. Living with them was a Sarah GOODWRIGHT,48 sister, Domestic Servant, single, born Dover, Kent 1901 Census - " Clyde Cottage, St James, Dover, Kent. There were four lodgers with the family. 1911 Cenus - 2 Clyde Cottages, Dover Kent. with Susannah was a Frank Douglas TOLHURST a Boarder aged 19 a Butcher and Journeyman born Canterbury, Kent 1871 Census - 27 Adrian Street, Dover, Kent, a brother of Robert aged 28 a Painter born St Mary, Dover was living with them 1881 Census - 7 Adrian Street, Dover, Kent, a mother was living with them, but her surname does not match what we have. It looks like Sarah SMITHELL (looks like two ll's at end but I am told it is possibly SMITHETT age 73 a widow born Dover, Kent. 1901 Census - 33 Elm Road, Crayford, Kent. Elizabeth was down as Lily on this Census. Children Herbert 11 born Dover, Kent, Sidney aged 3 born Camberwell, London and Arthur aged 1 born Deptford, London. 1911 Census - 23 Whitehall Lane Slade Green Near Erith, Kent. (Have now found on 1911 but still to find on 1891 and 1901 Census). They are down as having been married 22 years. Children Herbert, aged 21 (1890) a Railway Engine Shop Labourer born Dover, Kent, Sidney aged 13 (1898) School, born Camberwell, Londn, Arthur aged 11 (1900) School) Aflred aged 8 (1903) born Crayford, Slades Green, Kent and Lilian aged 6 (1905) born Crayford, Slades Green, Kent. 1871 Census - 27 Adrian Street, Dover, Kent, a brother of Robert aged 28 a Painter born St Mary, Dover was living with them 1881 Census - 7 Adrian Street, Dover, Kent, a mother was living with them, but her surname does not match what we have. Living with them was a Sarah GOODWRIGHT,48 sister, Domestic Servant, single, born Dover, Kent 1901 Census - " Clyde Cottage, St James, Dover, Kent. There were four lodgers with the family. 1911 Census - Glenleigh Grey's Estate Eastbourne, Sussex. Violet was with her sister Mary Emily ADAMS née GOODWRIGHT and her family.
