Note There is an entry on Royal Hospital Chelsea Pension Admissions and Discharges that could relate to this Arthur. Note
It appears that George Edwin GUMBRELL as well as having lots of variants to his surname also gave different dates of birth. The marriage certificate I have found for George Edwin GUMBRELL shows his father as Mark GUMBRELL. I have now found an entry for Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Soldier Service Records, that shows his birthplace as Long Ditton Surrey, and born in 1874 so I do think we have the right person. He appears to have first served in the Army Service Corps from 1892 to around 1904 and then in the Royal Navy from 1904 to 1919. There does appear to be another George Edwin GUMBRELL born in Cuckfield, Sussex around the same time and I have been having problems deciding which record belongs to which George Edwin.
