  1. 1841 Census - Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire
1851 Census - Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire (job to read birth place, this is Ancestrys interpretation, I have a feeling it is more than likely Thosoe Barwick and not Warwick, but I am not certain. On the 1841 is had an N for if born in County so the Warwick might be correct. William is down as deaf on this census.
IGI Marriage submitted by a member of the IGI church
IGI Information, parents Nehemiah HANCOX and Elizabeth HUNT
  2. 1841 Census - Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire  (Ann down as not born in County)
1851 Census - Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire (see 1841 it says that Ann was not born in the County)
1861 Census - 46 Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire. With Ann is an Eliza HANCOCK, granddaughter, aged 14 born Northampton, Northamptonshire and a Boarder a William FARMER a widower aged 42 a Grinder at Iron Foundry born Harpole, Northamptonshire.
Eliza could possibly be the child of Nehemiah HANCOCK on this chart but the age does not tie up, so I would think it is more likely that she is a child of one of the other male siblings on this Chart.
IGI Marriage submitted by a member of the IGI church
IGI Information, parents James BROWN and Keziah BURDITT
  3. IGI birth submitted by a member of the IGI church
  4. 1851 Census - Ashford Road, Maidstone, Kent. this is very strange as his wife is a Rebecca born 1821 Maidstone, Kent, which matches the information on the 1871 exactly but it definitely says on the 1861 Census that Nehemiah is a widower, but this does not appear to be the case. I am going to make Rebecca his first wife and Sarah his second and removed the ? for his first wife as the 1861 Census was the first one I found. Children on this Census are Eliza 9 and William 7 both born Northampton, and both scholars, there is a John YORK as a lodger and then there is a George HANCOCK a nephew aged 22 born Northampton, and a Hair Dresser. So this must be the George HANCOCK who married Elizabeth STEDMAN and was not Nehemiah nephew but his brother. So even more confusing. George born 1830 so he would be around 22 on the 1851 Census was a Barber in Northfleet, by 1854. There appears to be to many similarities not to be the same person.
1861 Census - 15 Bear Lane, Christchurch, Southwark, Surrey, Nehemiah was a widower aged 42 and born in Northampton. with him was Elizah, aged 18, Housekeeper, born Northampton, Northamptonshire and William 17 an Iron Moulder, born Northampton, Northamptonshire.
1871 Census - 13 Spring Gardens, Kettering Northamptonshire. Nehemiah was a lodger and it appears that he had moved back from London to Northamptonshire and that he had married again to a Rebecca.
1881 Census - 12 Angel Street, Northampton, Northamptonshire. It would appear that Nehemiah had married yet again. With him was a son a Henry Guffitt? HANCOCK aged 29 No occupation, born Litchfield, Staffordshire. There were four lodgers with the household.
IGI birth submitted by a member of the IGI church
The IGI shows a marriage by a member of the LDS Church which suggests the Nehemiah married a third time, it would have been his first. There is also a birth date which matches the above exactly, so I am fairly certain it is correct.
On the IGI submitted by a member of the LDS Church there is a Nehemiah Henry Hancock, born 5 June 1840 Northampton, Northampton and baptised 22nd November 1840 Northampton, Northamptonshire, and died in 1845 in Maidstone, Kent. with Maria DUNKLEY as the mother, so this all ties up nicely, however I cannot find a Nehemiah and Maria HANCOCK with a son Nehemiah on the 1841 Census
  5. IGI birth submitted by a member of the IGI church
Although the IGI shows Elizabeth with parents Nehemiah and Elizabeth I am not happy that is is one of the family above. A Keith Harry LENTON has submitted a much fuller tree on the IGI Pedigree Search and on this he has an Elizabeth baptised 24th April 1814 in Northampton, Northamptonshire. I feel that it is much more likely that this is the correct Elizabeth for this family.
  6. IGI birth submitted by a member of the IGI church
  7. IGI birth submitted by a member of the IGI church
Although the IGI shows John with parents Nehemiah and Elizabeth I am not happy that is is one of the family above.
  8. IGI birth submitted by a member of the IGI church
  9. 1841 Census - Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire. This is another child found on the 1841 Census, did not find on the baptisms.
  10. 1841 Census - Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire
1851 Census - Ashford Road, Maidstone, Kent.
1861 Census - Northfleet Hill, Northfleet, Kent.
1870 (at baptism of Frederick) The Hill, Northfleet, Kent
1871 Census - Northfleet Hill, Northfleet, Kent.
  11. 1841 Census - Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire
1851 Census - Cottage in Court next to 21 Bath Street, St Alkmund, Derby St Alkmund, Derby, Derbyshire.
1861 Census - 56 Roding Street, Black Friars, Leicester, Leicestershire.
1871 Census - 53 Friars Causeway, Leicester, Leicestershire.
IGI information for birth and death, submitted by a member of the IGI church. There is another IGI entry for an Emily baptised 25th December, is this another child or have the people contributing the information mixed the Emma and Emily, I have left as one entry from the present time.
IGI information gave me details of this marriage, now found a child on the 1851 Census, so will put a chart on for the family at some stage.
  12. 1851 Census - Cow Lane, Northampton All Saints, Northampton, Northamptonshire
IGI birth submitted by a member of the IGI church

As this information is taken from the IGI I cannot verify how accurate it is, especially as all of it was submitted by member of the LDS church and not extracted from actual record. We do know that a William HANCOX married an Ann Brown and the had a George HANCOX/HANCOCK and that George married Elizabeth STEDMAN in Kent in 1853. The rest of this Chart is the start of trying to show George's Ancestry. All the entries are either single or at the most two children, I have found them by putting in the most common names, I would think there are some more, especially before Mary as there is a three year gap there between marriage and the first child. There is also a gap between James and George where I would think there are more children.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
