Charles is down as Head aged 42 born Ramsgate, Kent at this address. He is down as married but no one else with him. He is in the same premises as a Henry NICHOLLS aged 26 a Tin Worker and Cutler born London and his wife Mary aged 25 a Hawker born London. 1851 10 Hartford Place, Ramsgate, Kent. 1861 7 Cottage back of La Bell Alliance, Ramsgate, Kent. This shows that Mary Ann had been married before and in 1861 was a widow, She was Head of family a Laundress aged 34 born Ramsgate, Kent. 1862 Camden Cottages, Ramsgate, Kent (address at marriage). Father Daniel FOSTER?, Mariner 1871 1 Cottage, Back of Addington Street, Ramsgate, Kent. 1881 5 Mew Cottages, Ramsgate, Kent. On this Census we already know that Charles was not with his wife, so we now find that Mary A HARLAND down as Mother, incorrectly I think down a W (widow) aged 50 and born in Ramsgate, was with a Sarah E WHITE aged 27 down as married but no husband with her and down as a Fisherman's wife which has been crossed through and born in Ramsgate, with her is her daughter a Daisy E WHITE aged 1 born Ramsgate, Kent, then there is Annie A HARLAND down as Step sister born 14 born Ramsgate, Kent. I would think from this that either Charles or his wife Mary A had been married before to give the relationship of Step Sister, 1851 10 Hartford Place, Ramsgate, Kent. 1871 1 Cottage, Back of Addington Street, Ramsgate, Kent. 1881 5 Mew Cottages, Ramsgate, Kent.
