  1. 1851 Census - 16 Providence Street, St Helier, living with parents and siblings, occupation recorded as Bootmaker
1861 Census - 14 Charles Street, St. Helier, occupation recorded as Bootmaker
1871 Census - 36 Elun Street, Leather Market, St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey
    1881 Census - 139 & 140 Bermondsey St, Bermondsey
  2. 1861 Census - 14 Charles Street, St. Helier, occupation recorded as Bootmaker
1871 Census - 36 Elun Street, Leather Market, St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey
    1881 Census - 139 & 140 Bermondsey St, Bermondsey
  3. 1871 Census - 36 Elun Street, Leather Market, St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey
  4. 1871 Census - 36 Elun Street, Leather Market, St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey
1881 Census - was serving on HMS Excellence docked at Portsmouth
1881 Census - Clarence was also down as being at the Sailors Welcome Coffee Tavern (see Note 7) at Queen street, Portsea, Hampshire. He was down as a Able Seaman. I have not counted up the number of seaman staying at this residence, but found him on the fourth page at this address so well over 100 residents.
1891 Census - Clarence still in the Royal Navy but has put his birth place down as Bermondsey, Surrey. He is down as married aged 32, a Petty Officer on Excellent (Whale Id) Portsea Island, Hampshire
On 23rd December 2006 a Henry COUTANCHE wrote to me with the following information: Whilst indexing my powers of attorney from the Jersey Royal Court I found this one which might be of interest to you. It is in French and I have both translated and abbreviated. Mr Alfred Gulliver of Royal Parade, St Helier, a statuary mason is made the Attorney for: Clarence Augustus Jolin, temporarily residing at number eleven Havant road, Portsmouth, a petty officer in the Royal Navy, dated 1892 and several others all coheirs of Miss Nancy Le Sueur. If you would find this of interest please contact me at your convenience. The others were Edgar Henry Jolin, bookbinder, George Perrall, leather dealer (your tree states Verrall which must be correct) and Julia Janr Jolin his wife, Jessie Jane Jolin, spinster, spinster, the four latter of number thirty-nine Lucy Road, Bermondsey, London, all with Emily Jolin a minor, the children of the late Henry Charles Jolin who died in London 16 Sept 1884. (Repeated because I had thought I was running out of space!). Henry Charles Jolin was one of the sons of the late Mr Philip Jolin. These were entitled to rentes which belonged to the late Miss Nancy Le Sueur. I think there may be other Powers of Attorney registered, but indexing what I have is as very slow process when you see all the details included.
  5. 1871 Census - 36 Elun Street, Leather Market, St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey
    1881 Census - 139 & 140 Bermondsey St, Bermondsey
1901 Census - Wingfield Street, Bungay, Suffolk - Edgar is in Bungay, Suffolk, RG13/1798 Folio 132 Page 10. (From the fact he was working in Bungay at a Printers it sounds as though he was working for Richard Clay and Company)
BMD - there is a marriage of a Jessie Jane JOLIN for September quarter 1894 which I am fairly certain is the correct Jessie but there are three women listed and two men. One of the men is an Alfred Ernest SIMPSON which I would have liked Jessie to have married, but cannot find a Jessie SIMPSON on the 1901 Census that ties up with this, however there is a Jessie that is the correct age for the other man listed a Lot POOLEY. They had three children, a Charlotte, aged 4, a Lot aged 3 and a Christopher aged 1, living at 54 Coleman Road, Camberwell. I will put a Chart on for this family as I feel it is the correct family.

1901 Census - 41 Lully Road, Bermondsey, surrey, George and Julia have six children on this Census so will have to make another chart for them. Emily the youngest sister of Julia is with the family, she is 25 single and down correctly as sister-in-law RG13/394 Folio 46 Page 25

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
