  1. 1841 Census - Wingham, Kent. Elizabeth on this and the 1861 Census. Eliza on the 1851.
    1851 Census - Wingham, Kent
1861 Census - Shatterling, Staple, Kent
1871 Census - Shatterling, Staple, Kent. There was an Harriet KNIGHT, sister, aged 55 a Housekeeper born Wingham, Kent with Henry and his two sons on this Census.
1881 Census - Twitham, Wingham, Kent. It would appear that Henry had remarried as he has a wife Eliza aged 62 born Wingham, Kent. With them is son in law William MILES aged 35 born Wingham, Kent, but he is down as unmarried and a child Eliza MILES aged 6 a Scholar born Woodnesborough. We had this information, see Elizabeth KNIGHT above, but this census does not prove that this is entirely correct. I have now found a marriage for a Henry KNIGHT to an Eliza MILES in the September quarter of 1872 in Eastry district, Kent. I think there is some confusion about the information we had. The censuses before 1881 show the wife as Elizabeth, so I think all the children came from this marriage. As he married a MILES for his second marriage and then a William MILES appears on the 1881 Census as son-in-law I am inclined to think that this William is a child of a first marriage of Eliza. Also the child Eliza down as a Granddaughter is likely to be from this side of the family and not necessarily a daughter of Elizabeth.
  2. 1841 Census - Wingham, Kent. Elizabeth on this and the 1861 Census. Eliza on the 1851.
    1851 Census - Wingham, Kent
1861 Census - Shatterling, Staple, Kent
  3. 1851 Census - Wingham, Kent
1861 Census - Farm, Twitham, Wingham, Kent
1871 Census - Twitham, Wingham, Kent. This proves the Eliza MILLS theory but although she had three children on this census she was still down as being married. One of the children is the William MILES which appears on the 1881 Census but ten years younger. I have now removed the marriage of Elizabeth Knight to William Miles which appeared for the second child above.
4. 1851 Census - Wingham, Kent

1871 Census - Twitham, Wingham, Kent. This proves the Eliza MILLS theory but although she had three children on this census she was still down as being married. One of the children is the William MILES which appears on the 1881 Census but ten years younger.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
