  1. 1898 Hog Hatch, Hale, Surrey (baptism of Henry William)
1901 Census - Squiller Cottages, Seale, Surrey. There was a George W H A BONIFACE, brother in law aged 26 Carter on Farm born Aldershot, Hampshire with the family on the census.
1911 Lawes Cottages Church Lane Aldershot, Hampshire.
  2. 1901 5 Union Buildings, Portsea and Landport, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Father Matthew ALLFORD Aged 31 a Cutler (Itinerant) born Newport, Isle of Wight (the fact that he was an Itinerant ie a Traveller, Matthew's wife was Mary J and the children were Jemimah? (daughter) aged 15, Henrietta aged 13, then Elizabeth, followed by William 7, Rose 5 and Ellen 1 all born Newport, Isle of Wight.
1911 3 York Terrace Upper Church Path Landport, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Elizabeth had been married 2 years and had had 1 child who survives at the date of this Census.
1939 11 Queen Street , Aldershot M.B., Hampshire. Between Elizabeth and son Ronald W there was 1 Record Officially Closed entry
    Notes to Notes
We cannot find the registations for the two marriage of Elizabeth Anne ALLFORD. On the 1911 Census it shows that Elizabeth had been married 2 years and had had 1 child who was still living. However I still cannot find a marriage for her to a Charles PENN circa 1909. As shown in the notes above, on the 1911 Census at 3 York Terrace, Upper Church Path, Landport, Portsmouth Hampshire, there is a Charles PENN a Hawker General aged 25 born Petersfield, Hampshire, with an Elizabeth PENN aged 22 (born 1889) Newport, Isle of Wight, with them was a son a William PENN aged 1 born Ryde, Isle of Wight, Hampshire..
I have looked at the Isle of Wight BMD Birth Records for 1910 and there is a William PENN born 1910 Ryde Isle of Wight, with mother's maiden name as ALLFORD. There are 13 children with the surname PENN and the mother’s maiden name as ALLFORD (or ALFORD) born between 1906 and 1928 all of them other than William are down as being born in the Newport district of Isle of Wight. As stated. William is shown being born in the Ryde district and there is a Charles PENN born in 1909 in that district so it is possible that the Newport family is a different one to the Ryde one. Two PENN/ALLFORD marriages have been found in the June quarter 1905 in the Isle of Wight District, Robert and Thomas PENN to Hetty and Jemima Jane ALLFORD, the two ALLFORD brides being the sisters of Elizabeth in 1901 and it would appear from the 1891 census that Robert, Thomas and Charles PENN were brothers
Besides the 1901 census showing that Elizabeth’s husband was a Hawker, on the 1891 Census Elizabeth ALLFORD born 1890 in Newport, Isle of Wight, living at 5 Union Buildings, Portsea and Landport, Portsmouth, Hampshire has a father Matthew ALLFORD Aged 31 a Cutler (Itinerant) born Newport, Isle of Wight . The fact that Elizabeth father was an Interant, ie a Traveller, leads me to believe that we have the correct family and that Elizabeth did not have a formal wedding for either of her relationships. I have therefore added the information but it could be incorrect.
  3. 1891 Brean Farm, Cootham, Storrington, Thakeham, Sussex. Father George (40) Agricultural Labourer born Sheet, Hampshire, wife Elizabeth (37) born Andover, Hampshire, children Alice (19) born Sheet, Hampshire, George (17) Agricultural Labourer born Sheet, Hampshire, Frank (15) Agricultural Labourer born Sheet, Hampshire, Robert (11) born Sheet, Hampshire, Thomas (9) born Sheet, Hampshire, Charles (5) born Sheet, Hampshire, Eva (3) born Dunsford, Sussex, and Elizabeth (10mths) born Chichester, Sussex, together with grandson Harry (11mths) born Chichester, Sussex
1901 (Lodging House), 20, Middle Brook Street, Winchester St Maurice, Winchester, Hampshire. Lodging with William R MORRIS (66) Lodging House Keeper born Swanwick, Hampshire, his wife Ellen (64) born Ireland and granddaughter Ellen (13) born Ireland.
All the Lodgers were: Charles BLUNDEN (37) married General Labourer born Longstock, Hampshire, Mary J BLUNDEN (27) married born Fareham, Hampshire, John STANLEY (4) born Fareham, Hampshire, Charles BLUNDEN (9mths) born Winchester, Hampshire, George PENN (50) married Bricklayers Labourer born Sheet, Hampshire, Elizabeth PENN (49) married born Andover, Hampshire  Charles PENN (16) born Sheet, Hampshire, Chrissie PENN (14) born Sheet, Hampshire, Elizabeth PENN (12) born Sheet, Hampshire, George KEBBY (51) married Artificial Flower Maker born Ringwood, Hampshire, Anne KEBBY (50) married born Andover, Hampshire Henry HUMBY (40) single Ordinary Agri Labourer born West End, Hampshire, Rollo POLLOCK (22) single Pastry Cook born Winchester, Hampshire, George MITH (29) single Dock Labourer born Croydon, Surrey
1911 3 York Terrace Upper Church Path Landport, Portsmouth, Hampshire
1939 Pigeon Coo Farm, Isle of Wight R.D., Hampshire. Charles was shown as born 10 August 1884 General Dealer. Living with him was an Elizabeth PENN born 14 October 1880 Unpaid Domestic Duties, Fred PENN born 14 April 1914 Invalid, 1 Record Officially Closed entry, Charles PENN born 12 June 1921 Butchers Boy and another Record Officially Closed entry. If this is the correct Charles, despite the difference in the birth date, it is possible that Fred PENN was the son of Charles and Elizabeth ALLFORD. However, it would seem that the Elizabeth PENN born 14 October 1880 could have been a new "wife" with Charles born 12 June 1921 being their son as at that date Elizabeth ALLFORD had a child with William Henry LONGHURST

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
