  1. I started looking at Ancestry.com for this family and I am confused by my findings. On the 1871 Census I have an Abraham MILEMAN born about 1834 in St Albans, Hertfordshire, so you would think that was the correct person for the above. However his wife was a Harriet MILEMAN who was born in 1837 in Redbourne Hertfordshire. Wrong name, wrong birth year, but right birth place. They were living in the Luton area, but had a son James MILEMAN born about 1862 in Georges East London, England. About correct for the details we had. HOWEVER on the 1861 Census, starting with Catherine MILEMAN (right name for wife) she was born about 1834 in St Albans, Hertfordshire, right name about right year for birth but wrong place. Her husband however is a Henry MILEMAN born about 1835, in St Albans, Hertfordshire, Wrong name, about right year for birth and right place. On this Census there is a George MILEMAN son born in 1857 in St Albans, Herts, on the 1871 Census there is a George MILEMAN born about 1858 also in St Albans, Herts. We did have a (2) next to the marriage, so possibly our informant knew that Abraham/Henry married twice. This would make sense for the Catherine and Harriet MILEMAN, but the problem remains that I have Abraham/Henry for the main person. There were children on the 1871 Census names BISNEY which could be the children of Harriet for her first marriage. So I think I will amend this chart to cover both the 1861 and 1871 Census including the details we had at the outset. I will also look on the BMD site and the 1881, 1891 and 1901 Census to see if I can find anything else about these families. Under this notes panel I will show the chart as it was before I made alterations to it.
  2. Possibly married a William, but on the BMD the wife does not come up.
  3. 1861 Census - 27 Mark Street, St Leonard, Shoreditch, Middlesex
  4. 1871 Census - 148 Farley Road, Luton, Bedfordshire
  5. 1861 Census - Farm House (possibly as that is the previous address, no address next to this family) Watford, Hertfordshire. I am fairly certain this is the family of Harriet and William BISNEY, but on the 1861 Census they are down as BEASON, but Harriet is the correct age and born in the correct place, she is a Straw Bonnet Maker which ties up with her occupation on the 1871 Census. Her husband is a William which is what I expected and they have a daughter Elizabeth born Waltham, Hertfordshire, which again ties up with the details I have. There is another daughter Sarah which I have added.
  6. 1881 Census - 9 Hadland Street, Rotherhithe, London. The family has changed even more on this census. Three new children, Elizabeth BISNEY with family which I think proves note 5 above. Her mother and herself are Straw Bonnet Makers which again ties up with Note 5.
  7. 1891 Census - Indexed as Meleman but the right family - 10 William Street, Rotherhithe, London
  8. 1901 Census - Found a Polly KIMBER of the correct age for Polly MILEMAN, and found a marriage to a Henry KIMBER on the BMD site, so I would think it is right as it is in the correct area, I have added the name Read into name from the BMD site.  I was looking for Abraham or Harriet MILEMAN on the 1901 Census which I have not found at the moment. They are living at 60 Shere Road, Deptford, London. They are both aged 21 and I would think living with Henry KIMBER's family, as the head of the family is a Henry KIMBER, age 53, his wife was Emma KIMBER, aged 43 born in Peckham, and they had two children other than Henry still at home, Elizah KIMBER aged 17 and a William KIMBER aged 13 both born in Deptford, London
  9. 1901 Census - Searched for Abraham MILEMAN without result, but looked for William MILEMAN and I came up with a result that showed William was married but had put his birth place down as Rotherhithe not Luton. I know it is the right person as at the same address is Abraham MILEMAN and Harriet  MILEMAN and Ernest MILEMAN, none of these came up with a search for there first name, date of birth and place, even though they are all there. It is interesting to note that Abraham and Ernest were Labourers at the Biscuit Works. A lot of our relations worked there. There is also a Elizabeth WATERER granddaughter age 14 with them who was born in Rotherhithe, London. They were living at 29 Colwick Street, Lower Road, Deptford, London
  10. 1901 Census - I have found an Eleanor PATRICK of the right age and birth place on the 1901 Census, I have also found a marriage of an Eleanor MILEMAN to a Francis Joseph PATRICK on the BMD site. They have a son so will make a new Chart at some stage. They were living at 44/5 Enid Street, Bermondsey, London. There son Francis W PATRICK was 2 months old and born in Bermondsey, also in the house were Francis PATRICK's father Henry PATRICK age 64 a Contractor (retired) born in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, his wife Mary A PATRICK aged 66 born Waterland? Hertfordshire and a nephew Albert PATRICK, aged 13 born Rotherhithe, London.
  11. Found on BMD site a marriage for an Elizabeth BISNEY to a Henry WATERER. As we have a Granddaughter on note 9 for this name I am fairly certain this is the correct marriage. Found on the 1891 Census, they had two daughters both born in Rotherhithe, Elizabeth I WATERER, aged 4 which ties up with Note 9 and a Harriet WATERER, aged 1, which again ties up nicely with the name of her Grandmother. Cannot find on the 1901 Census.
  12. I am fairly certain that his marriage is correct. I have search on the 1891 Census for BIGGS and SMITH, but there are so many choices of SMITH that I cannot decided which is the correct one. Found no match for BIGGS, so I would think is was more than likely she married a SMITH.
  13. I have a marriage of a Henry MILEMAN born in Hertfordshire in 1854 a Bricklayer married to a Rebecca MILEMAN also born in 1854 in Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire on the 1881 Census which I think is the correct family, especially as they had a child Rose, born in Rotherhithe, which is where some of the rest of the family moved to. They were living at Lytton Rd No 10 Stephens Cott, East Barnet, Hertfordshire. They has a daughter Rose MILEMAN, aged 3 born Rotherhithe, Kent, Henry MILEMAN, age 2 born New Barnet, Middlesex, and a Herbert MILEMAN, aged 3 months born New Barnet, Kent. I will make a new Chart for this family.
  14. Below is all of the address we have for JAMES, dome of them will appear above but I have not changed this chart as yet to the new numbering for the notes.

1906 9 Rolt St, Deptford, London

    1922 Rolt Street, Deptford, London

I am certain I could do even more with this chart but as you can see it has changed dramatically from the information we originally had.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
