    1851 Census - Brickend Road, Chislehurst, Kent. There was a visitor, a John HALEY 16 born Gravesend, Kent
    1861 Census - "The Red Cross" North Cray, Kent. There was a John PHILLIPS down as a relative, aged15 born St Mary's Cray, Kent, this was in fact a nephew of Joseph and appears on PHILLIPS Chart 0502). There was also two visitors, an Edward BRISTOLL, aged18 a Sheepshearer? born London, Middlesex and a John PROSSER aged 27 an Ag Lab born Bromsgrove, Worcestershire
    1871 Census - "Gladstone Inn", Dawsons Road, Croydon, Surrey. There was an Edward RUTLAND a Servant aged 14 a Potboy, born Essex with the family.
    1881 Census Park Road, Caterham, Surrey. There was a Thomas INKPEN aged 17 an Apprentice, Bootmaker born Westerham, Kent with the family.

    1901 Census - Oak Road, Caterham, Surrey. Son John and his wife Alice were with him.
