Father William aged 50 a Gardener Domestic Servant born Eaint?, Scotland, Mother Jesse aged 47 born Fifeshire, Scotland, Siblings David a Chemist Assistant born Maidstone, Kent, and Robert aged 5 a Scholar born Wantage, Berkshire 1892 Ewhurst, Surrey (baptism of Margaret) 1901 Not found at present 1911 Halway Houses, Dippenhall, Franham, Surrey. John was a Boarder with and Edlin WHITE aged 57 an Estate Carpenter born Stewkley, Bucks, and his wife Orfrah WHILE aged 53 who had been married 30 years and had 4 children 3 survive and 1 has died at the date of this Census. she was born in Newton Congville?, Bucks. A daughter Lillian WHITE aged 18 working at home born East Finchley, Middlesex was with them. 1915 Ewhurst Green, near Guildford, Surrey (war attestation document) On this his next of kin is given as Miss Margaret STEMP, this at some stage has been crossed through to become Mrs Margaret NELSON and the marriage date given. He is down as being 35 years 5 months on this document 1916 Leytonstone London (at marriage) - Father - William NELSON - Gardener 1919 Ewhurst Green, Surrey (address given on discharge) 1919 26th May 1919 in a letter of Office I/C RFA Records, Woolwich. John in a letter about certificate of discharge with address as Ewhurst Green, Ewhurst, Surrey he says in a paragraph "I also wish to notify you of my change of address after the 28th Inst, it will be "Scyborwen, Uok, Monmouthshire." There are 32 pages of material on the War Records about John NELSON, I have just picked out one or two points of interest. 1892 Ewhurst, Surrey (baptism of Margaret) 1901 The Green, Ewhurst, Surrey. Family was living with Head of family grandfather Job ANSELL (85) widower born Ewhurst, Surrey 1911 43 Birdhurst Rise, Croydon, Surrey. Margaret was a Servant to an Elizabeth GRINSTEAD a Widow aged 58 Private Means bon Dorking, Surrey. There was also a boarder with them. 1916 Ewhurst, Surrey (marriage)
