  1. 1841 Abinger, Surrey
1851 Cottage No 17, King Georges Hill, Wotton, Surrey
    1861 Wotton, Surrey
  2. 1841 Abinger, Surrey
1851 Cottage No 17, King Georges Hill, Wotton, Surrey
    1861 Wotton, Surrey
Parents - James HAMPSHIRE 1765 and Jane WORSFOLD 1765
  3. 1841 Census - Cobham, Surrey
1851 Census - Downside, Cobham, Surrey. There were two lodgers with the family on this Census. Edward and William MURSER? both widowers aged 66 and 60 respectively born Ag Labs and both born in Dorking Horne?, Surrey
1861 Census - Tin Row, Cobham, Surrey.
1871 Census - Tin Row, Cobham, Surrey. There was a Richard OVERTUN, a Grandson, aged 7 a Scholar born Cobham, Surrey with the family. As the boys of the family are all at home and the eldest only 18 I would think it was a child of Mary, Eliza or Sarah.
1881 Census - Tin Row, Downside Common, Cobham, Surrey. Richard B OVERTON, Grandson, now down as aged 18 is still with the family, he is a Labourer (Agricultural) and born in Cobham, Surrey
    1885 - Downside, Cobham, Surrey
  4.
  5. 1851 Census - Ranmore, Dorking, Surrey
1861 Census - Church Street, Effingham, Surrey
1871 Census - Ranmore Road, Little Bookham, Surrey, 7 children and a granddaughter on this Census
1881 Census - Ranmore House, Great Bookham, Surrey
1891 Census - Ranmore Farm, Little Bookham.
  6. 1861 Census - Street, West Horsley, Surrey. Children Eliza 6 born West Horsley, Surrey and Elizabeth 4 born West Horsley, Surrey. I have a slight doubt about this being the correct William on this and the following Censuses as he shows in all case as being two years younger than he appears on the Chart above and we have his baptism date. I cannot however find another William OVERTON born in Abinger and married to a Mary, as per the above information which was given to us.
1871 Census - Honeysuckle Bottom, East Horsley, Surrey. Children Eliza 17 Servant out of Employ, born West Horsley, Surrey, Emma 9 born West Horsley, Surrey, William 5 born East Horsley, Surrey and Edwin 1 born East Horsley, Surrey
1881 Census - Cottage, East Horsley, Surrey.
  7. 1841 Abinger, Surrey
  8. 1841 Abinger, Surrey
1861 Census - Dorking Surrey (the next property is called Furlongs, but no name of houses or streets given
  9. 1841 Abinger, Surrey
1851 Census - London Road, Dorking, Surrey, George was a Lodger, no occupation given
1861 Census - Village, East Clandon, Surrey,

I have now changed the Charts, so the main heading duplicates the name on the Chart ie OVERTUN, OVERTON, OVERINGTON etc - there are lots of variants. However all the link boxes are OVERTUN and the list in the Index are all spelt OVERTUN. This is so that all the names are in one position and in order in the contents list.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
