1851 39 Railway Grove, Deptford, London. I think this is the William M, his parents are correct as Peter and Jane and he is in Deptford, so correct area. this give us his age and where he was born. He had sibling Eliza aged 5 and Elizabeth A aged 1 both born Deptford, Kent, (the Elizabeth ties up with what I have found on other Censuses) His father Peter was a Shipwright which also tie up with the early occupation of William. 1872 Chaseside, Winchmore Hill, Edmonton, Middlesex, he was Full aged and Father was Peter PAXTON - Shipwright. 1873 New Cross, London (baptism of Jane Hepezibath Eliza) 1882 71 Trafalgar Terrace, Greenwich, London (baptism of Eliza Frances) 1896 186 Turners Road, Mile End, London (London Electoral Roll) 1916 It appears that William Mason PAXTON married again in June quarter 1916 to a Lucy H CRESSWICK in Stepney district, London 1923 PAXTON William Mason of 36 Norfolk-road East Ham Essex died 21 November 1923 Probate London 2 January to Lucy Mary Paxton widow. Effects £2021 15s. 4d. (National Probate Calendar 1861 4 Austins? Row, Margate, Kent. The head of the household a a Maria THORPE, age 65, a lodging house keeper, born in Saffron Walden, Essex 1871 Not found at present 1873 New Cross, London (baptism of Jane Hepezibath Eliza) 1872 Chaseside, Winchmore Hill, Edmonton, Middlesex (at marriage) - Father Foster SETTERFIELD - Farmer 1881 Not found at present 1882 71 Trafalgar Terrace, Greenwich, London (baptism of Eliza Frances) 1891 3 Hillside Cottages, Wades Hill, Edmonton, Middlesex. Eliza is down as a Servant but down as Married aged 44 born Margate, Kent with a George BRAID a Nursery Man who was a Widower aged 59 born Scotland and his sons William aged 26 and Ernest aged 19 both Nurseryman Assistants born Winchmore Hill, Middlesex 1901 Not found at present 1911 11 Elgin Road, Alexandra Park N, Wood Green N. As can be seen I cannot find Eliza on the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 Census at present but on this Census she is down correctly as Eliza Mary Barsham PAXTON born 1846 in Margate, Kent, down as a Mother-in-Law. Head was Albert Edwin BRAID aged 34 born Winchmore Hill, Middlesex, he was a Surgical Instrument Manufacturer's Manager, then there is his wife Eliza BRAID born 1876 Poplar London with estimated marriage year of 1899. (She must be a daughter of William and Eliza PAXTON) Then there is Kenneth Edwin Paxton BRAID aged 7 a Son born Wood Green, Middlesex, Then there is Ada Madeline ALLEN aged 20 a Cousin (so proving this is indeed the correct family) born Bedfont, Middlesex, London and the last entry is for Eliza, she is down as married, not widowed 1916 It appears that William Mason PAXTON married again in June quarter 1916 to a Lucy H CRESSWICK in Stepney district, London 1873 New Cross, London (baptism of Jane Hepezibah Eliza) 1881 46 Warwick Street, Deptford, London. Jane is down as Granddaughter with Jane PAXTON aged 55 born Plymouth, Devon the wife of Ships Surveyor, and a daughter of Jane an Elizabeth A. PAXTON aged 21 born New Cross, Kent a Milliner. 1891 46 Warwick Street, St Paul, Deptford, London. Jane is down as Granddaughter, with Peter PAXTON, aged 63 a Widower a Surveyor of Shipping Board of Trade and born in Scotland and a daughter Elizabeth A PAXTON aged 31 a Milliner born Deptford, London 1894 1 Short Street, Upper Edmonton, Middlesex (at marriage) 1901 10 Wyatt Road, Highbury, Islington, London. 1911 68 Harford St, Mile End E.Jane is down as having had 6 children, 4 survive at the date of this Census and 2 have died. 1882 71 Trafalgar Terrace, Greenwich, London (baptism of Eliza Frances) 1898 Bedfont, Middlesex (address at marriage) 1901 25 Terront Road, Tottenham, Middlesex 1911 11 Elgin Road, Alexandra Park N, Wood Green N. With them is Eliza Mary Barsham PAXTON born 1846 in Margate, Kent, down as a Mother-in-Law and Ada Madeline ALLEN aged 20 a Cousin (so proving this is indeed the correct family) born Bedfont, Middlesex, London
