  1. 1851 Census - 5 Neale Street, St George, Camberwell, Surrey,  Also living with them was Ann Thomson, Widow, Mother, aged 50 a Laundress, born Bath, Somerset1868 6 Orchard Place, Walworth, Surrey
1870 3 Blendon Row, Walworth, Surrey (birth of William)
1870 3 Blendon Row, Walworth, Surrey (baptism of William)
1871 Census - 12 Blendon Row (or possibly Orchard Place), Walworth, Newington, London. A Daniel DACKOMBE was boarding with this family on the night of the 1871 Census. I believe this was a brother of Caroline POLTON née DACKOMBE
1874 12 Orb Street, Walworth, Surrey (baptism of Ann Elizabeth)
1878 12 Blendon Row, Walworth, London (baptism of Thomas Edward)
1879 - 12 Bedford Street, Newington, Surrey (at baptism of Richard)
1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London
1885  48 Toulon Street, Kennington, London (baptism of Christopher)
1891 Census - Cannot find family on this Census. We now know that there should be at least Thomas, Caroline, Alfred and Christopher with their father James, but I have tried every alternative I can think of to find them without success. I also now think I have found Caroline's, James's wife's death in 1900 so she should also be on the 1891 Census.
1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
The name POULTON was changed in this generation. James POULTON registered his children as POULTON, but by the 1881 census had changed to POLTON, the three certificates we have at present are all POULTON, it is likely, but at the present unknown, if the other children were also registered as POULTON. However by the time of the marriages of Aquilla, Arthur and Thomas they were all using the name POLTON
  2. 1868 6 Orchard Place, Walworth, Surrey
1879 - 12 Bedford Street, Newington, Surrey (at baptism of Richard)
1874 12 Orb Street, Walworth, Surrey (baptism of Ann Elizabeth)
1878 12 Blendon Row, Walworth, London (baptism of Thomas Edward)
1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London
1885  48 Toulon Street, Kennington, London (baptism of Christopher)
  3. 1871 Census - 12 Blendon Row (or possibly Orchard Place), Walworth, Newington, London. A Daniel DACKOMBE was boarding with this family on the night of the 1871 Census. I believe this was a brother of Caroline POLTON née DACKOMBE
1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London (down as James on the 1881 Census)
    1892 Tabard Street, Bermondsey, London
1892 9 Silverlock Street, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1893 84 Eugenia Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1895 320 Southwark, Park Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1897 40 Raymouth Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1899 40 Raymouth Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey (London Electoral Roll)
1899 84 Crelon Road, North Camberwell, Surrey
1900 83 Eugenia Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
    1901 - 83 Eugenia Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey.
1902 - 83 Eugenia Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey. (London Electoral Roll)
1903 - 83 Eugenia Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey. (London Electoral Roll)
1903 - 180 Rotherhithe, New Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
    1904 - 9 Bramcote Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
    1905 - 89 Bramcote Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1910 11 Letterstone Road, Fulham, London (London Electoral Roll)
1911 - 67 Rosaville Rd Fulham London SW. There was a Rose DREDGE, a visitor a Widow aged 69 a Cook born Staffordshire with the family.
1912 - 67 Rosaville Rd Fulham London SW. (London Electoral Roll)
1913 - 67 Rosaville Rd Fulham London SW. (London Electoral Roll)
1914 - 67 Rosaville Rd Fulham London SW. (London Electoral Roll)
1915 51a Danehurst Street, Fulham, London (London Electoral Roll)
1918 51 Danehurst Street, Fulham, London (London Electoral Roll)

1927 51a Danehurst Road, Fulham, Middlesex (London Electoral Roll)

1932 5 Cambridge Avenue, Greenford Ward, Ealing, Middlesex (London Electoral Roll)
1933-1944 37 Denham Villas, Greenford Road, Greenford, Middlesex
Although registered as Aquilla POULTON it is understood that the decision had already been made by his father that the U in POULTON would no longer be used.
  4. 1870 3 Blendon Row, Walworth, Surrey (birth of William)
1870 3 Blendon Row, Walworth, Surrey (baptism of William)
At the birth of William POLTON, his father gave his name as William James POLTON, his mothers name being given correctly.
Does not appear on 1871 Census, possibly died therefore
  5. Cannot find why I have included this as a child of this family. Must have been told by someone at some stage but can find no record and can not find him on any census, baptism or BMD as POLTON or POULTON.
  6. 1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London
1901 Census - 20 Parfitt Road, Rotherhithe, London
    1903  - 20 Parfitt Road, Rotherhithe, London
1911 - 14 Anchor Street, Bermondsey, London. There was a John REEDY a lodger aged 55 a Mariner born St Michael's, Limerick with the family, I would think a relation of Arthur Daniel's wife Alice REEDY
  7. 1874 12 Orb Street, Walworth, Surrey (baptism of Ann Elizabeth)
  8. 1878 12 Blendon Row, Walworth, London (baptism of Thomas Edward)
1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London
1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
1905 - 177 Southwark Park Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
    1908 - 12 Martin Street, Bermondsey, London
    1909 - 36 Alexis Street, Bermondsey, London
There was a Christopher POLTON as a witness at this Wedding, at present I have not found a Christopher in the family. The youngest child of James and Caroline was a Caroline so the other witness could be this child but again I have not, at present, found after the 1881 Census)
1911 Census - 13 Martin Street Bermondsey, London
1918 42 Cherry Garden Street, Bermondsey, London (London Electoral Roll)
1925 123 Silwood Street, Canterbury Ward, Deptford, Lewisham, London (London Electoral Roll)
1934 123 Silwood Street, Canterbury Ward, Deptford, Lewisham, London (London Electoral Roll)
  9. 1879 - 12 Bedford Street, Newington, Surrey (at baptism of Richard)
  10. 1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
    1911 Census - 65 Linsey St S E
1912 20 Enid Street. (Again found marriage certificate, father is down as James, Fishmonger deceased, so again certain correct family.)
I have found a marriage for a Caroline POULTON in the correct area, so I think it is correct and then there are four births between 1914 and 1921 where the fathers name is HOAD and the mothers maiden name is POULTON.
1920 51 Larnaca Street, Bermondsey, London (London Electoral Roll)
  11. 1891 Census - Not found at present
1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
1902 78 St Mary Church Street, Rotherhithe, London (at marriage)
1903 17 Debrius? Road, Rotherhithe, London (baptism of Lilian Mary)
1911 2 Anchor St, Bermondsey, Surrey.   (Brother Arthur Daniel was at 14 Anchor Street, another reason for thinking this is correct family)
1954 POULTON Alfred John of 16 Aspinden-road Rotherhithe London S.E.16 died 21 December 1953 Administration (with Will) London 19 March to Eliza Poulton widow. Effects £1172 11s. 9d. (National Probate Calendar)
  12. 1885  48 Toulon Street, Kennington, London (baptism of Christopher)
1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
1908 177 Southwark Park Road. (at marriage)
I have found a marriage for a Christopher POULTON in the correct area, so I think it is correct and then there are two births between 1914 and 1924 with a FILLERY was the mothers maiden name. (Have now found marriage certificate it shows father as James POULTON, Fish Curer so certain correct person)
1911 13 Ambrose Street, Bermondsey, London.
There is a Christopher POLTON born March quarter 1885 in the Camberwell district, London. I cannot find on the 1891 or 1901 census but I do think he is part of this family and was a witness at the marriage  of his "brother" Thomas. After a lot of searching I have found the family on the 1901 Census. 1922 13 Ambrose street, Bermondsey, Southwark, London. (London Electoral Roll) (down as POULTON)
1953 Christopher of 5 Stone-street Brighton ied 30 September 1953 at The General Hospital Brighton Administration London 6 November to Vera Maud James (wife of Griffith James) and Joyce Florence Horner (wife of Edward James Horner). Effects £304 10s. 10d.(National Probate Calendar)

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
