HEAD
  1. 1823 Wonersh, Surrey (baptism of Samuel)
1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
1851 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There were two lodgers on this Census.
1861 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There was a lodger on this Census.
There is a baptism for a James PORTER on the IGI but it is submitted by a member of the LDS church and not taken from the actual records. We had James as being born in1801 but on the 1861 Census he is shown as being born in 1797. The LDS baptism shows the date as 2nd April 1797 Wonersh, Surrey. If this is correct the parents are shown as James and Ann.
  2. 1823 Wonersh, Surrey (baptism of Samuel)
1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
1851 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There were two lodgers on this Census.
1861 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There was a lodger on this Census.
1871 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. Ann is down as married, not as a widow on this Census. Her daughter Bertha is still with her, and also a George GOODCHILD aged 10 a Grandson, a Scholar born Wonersh and James GOODCHILD aged 3 a Grandson, a Scholar born Wonersh. There was also a nursechild, a Richard EDWARDS aged 1 born Wonersh with the family.
IGI baptism, mother is shown as Jane, no father shown, there are two other children, William and Thomas who are in the same batch number with Jane as the mother and no father shown.
  3. 1851 Census - Lea? Crouch, Wonersh, Surrey. There were two lodgers on this Census.
1861 Census - Hyde, Shamley Green, Wonersh, Surrey
  4. 1823 Wonersh, Surrey (baptism of Samuel)
  5. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
  6. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
    1851 Census - Wonersh, Surrey
1861 Census - Shamley Green, Wonersh, Surrey
1871 Census - 2 Pound Place, Shalford, Surrey. Ruth's mother was with them a Mary BACHELOR aged 82 a widow born Whitley, Surrey, There was also a son, a Charles PORTER aged 12 unemployed born Wonersh, Surrey, I would think therefore a child of Mary Ann and not Ruth.
1881 Census - Shalford Common, Shalford, Surrey. There was a Harry HOOKER aged 2 a Nurse Child birth place down as NK with Daniel and Ruth.
1891 Census - Station Road, Shalford, Surrey. There was a son a George BROWN aged 25 a Railway Signalman born Tonbridge, Kent, with them, so a son of Susan from a previous marriage. Also a Boarder and three lodgers with the family.
  7. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
1851 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There were two lodgers on this Census.
1881 Census - Hazel Acre, Pirbright, Surrey. Thomas is down as single, With a Thomas STEVENS a Dealer aged 64 born Woking, Surrey.
  8. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey . New child added as have found confirmation on 1861 Census. Therefore no information for Francis other than that give to me by an Andy BROWN
1851 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. Drucilla married with James with his father Henry MERCER aged 60 a Farm Labourer born Wonersh Surrey, he was a widower, also with him was another son Henry aged 14 a Farm Labourer born Wonersh, Surrey. This ties up with the Henry MERCER who married Hannah PORTER
1861 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. They had a son James H MERCER aged 3 born Wonersh, Surrey. With them was Druscilla's brother Henry aged 22 a Bricklayer born Wonersh, Surrey
1871 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. No children, but there was Henry MERCER, Father aged 74 an Annuitant born Wonersh, Surrey with them.
  9. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
1851 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There were two lodgers on this Census.
1861 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There was a lodger on this Census.
1871 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. Bertha is with her mother Ann on this Census and also a George GOODCHILD aged 10 a Grandson, a Scholar born Wonersh and James GOOCHILD aged 3 a Grandson, a Scholar born Wonersh. There was also a nursechild, a Richard EDWARDS aged 1 born Wonersh with the family.
1881 Census - Wonersh, Surrey. With George and Bertha was a William PORTER a cousin aged 52 a Pensioner (Soldier) born Wonersh, Surrey and a Thomas C BROOMFIELD a Nursechild aged 8 born London and a James FAULKNER aged 5 a Nursechild born Aldbury, Surrey.
1891 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey.  This is the fourth daughter who married a MERCER. However she was a widow by 1891. There were three lodgers with her.

    Information for George MERCER
1851 Census - Wonersh, Surrey. Mother Ann, aged 40 a widow a House Dweller, born Cranley, Surrey. Also with the family was Wiiliam who married Emma PORTER. There were four other children.
  10. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
1851 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There were two lodgers on this Census.
1861 Census - High Street, Chesham, Buckinghamshire.
1871 Census - West Street, Dorking, Surrey
1881 Census - Public Hall, West Street, Dorking, Surrey
1891 Census - 30 West Street, Dorking, Surrey. There was a George E PORTER a Grandson, aged 12 a Scholar, born Dorking, Surrey with the family.
  11. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
1851 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There were two lodgers on this Census.
1861 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey.  Three children on this Census. James 5, William 3 and Florence 1 all born in Wonersh. I am trying to eliminate the daughters on this Chart to find who the Grandchildren with Ann named GOODCHILD were on the 1871 Census. It now  looks likely that four of the daughters married spouses name MERCER.
1871 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey.  (The surname appears like MESSAN on this Census, but William and Emma and the three children on the 1861 Census all appear correctly) and they are living next door to Emma's mother.
  12. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey
1861 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. They had a son George, aged 5 months born Wonersh, Surrey.
1871 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey.  They had a daughter Sarah aged 2 months, born Wonersh, Surrey, but there were two of their children with Miriam's mother.
1881 Census - Sample? Oak Lane, Shalford, Surrey. Miriam is a widow with four children, the additional one is Alice aged 4 born Wonersh, Surrey, She and Sarah are Scholars, James is a Labourer on Farm and George is a Labourer in Powder Manufacturers
1891 Census - Yew Tree Cottage, Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. Miriam had remarried. James and Alice GOODCHILD are down as stepchildren. There was two Boarders with the family.
Had this child down as Marian but appears her name was Miriam. This was the daughter who married a GOODCHILD.
  13. 1841 Census - Shirelock Lane, Wonersh, Surrey

1861 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. They had a daughter Ruth, aged 10 months born Wonersh, Surrey. This is the third daughter who married a MERCER.
1871 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey.
    1881 Census - Wonersh, Surrey
1891 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey
1901 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey
  15. 1851 Census - Blackheath, Wonersh, Surrey. There were two lodgers on this Census.
1861 Census - Waterloo, Albury, Surrey. Edwin was a lodger with a Sarah THAYNES and her daughter
1871 Census - Wonersh, Surrey. With Edwin and family were James HEAD brother-in-law aged 20 an Agricultural Labourer born Wonersh, Surrey and Arthur HEAD brother-in-law aged 17 a Leather Dresser (Grounder) born Wonersh, Surrey
1881 Census - Shamley Green, Wonersh, Surrey
1891 Census - Shamley Green, Wonersh, Surrey. There is an Ela PORTER (male) aged 21 (born 1870) down as Brother on this Census, but I cannot see how this could be as Ann their mother would have been about 70 years old when she had Ela. I think it is the son Algernon "Elganson" Edmond.
1901 Census - Birtley Road, Bramley, Surrey
1911 Census - Hambledon district, Surrey. I have only found family on this Census, not looked at actual transcript so no actual address, birth place or occupation.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
