    Dear Mrs. Sim
Information has been received from the Missing Research and Enquiry Services ont eh Continent regarding your son, Flying Officer Dennis McDonald Sim.
Your son's aircraft was attacked by a Night Fighter in the vicinity of Wollseifen on the night of January 27, 1944. After a fight the two aircraft collided and your son's aircraft broke up in the air, the main portion coming down in the Walbich Tal, approximately one mile South of the Urftalsperre. The remainder of the wreckage was scattered over a large are.
The local inhabitants stated that none of the crew member appeared to have baled out.
The body of Squadron Leader Smith, a member of your son's crew, was identified by means of papers and was laid to rest in a Communal Grave with six other member of the crew in the Wollseifen Communal Cemetery, Germany. The body of Flying Office Teskey, also identified by means of papers was recovered at a later date and laid to rest in a separate grave.
As the bodies recovered number eight in all your son's crew is accounted for and it is assumed that your son is one of the six unknown removed the one aircraft and buried with Squadron Leader Smith. Their graves are well kept and supplied with flowers.
British Military Cemeteries have been located at a number of points in Germany, and all Royal Canadian Air Force personnel buried in Germany will be moved to these cemeteries, where the graves will be supported and sustained by the Dominion of Canada and entrusted to the Imperial War Grave Commission for reverent and perpetual care and the erection of a headstone over each grave. The task of preparing and erecting these headstones will naturally take considerable time. It is not necessary to write to the Imperial War Grave Commission, as you will be contacted by them before the stone is prepared.
When this concentration takes place it may be possible it identify your son's body and if this is down you will be advised immediately by these Headquarters.
May I again offer my sincere sympathy at the loss of your gallant son.
    Yours Sincerely
R.C.A.F. Casualty Officer for Chief of the Air Staff.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
