    Tried to connect this children down as SLOWGROVE and found the following suggest although Sarah is down as single on the 1861 Census she was in fact the mother of the children down as Boarders, perhaps William SIMONS on this Census down as married but with no wife with him was the father. So for Agnes one of the children she was born on 21st March 1852 and baptised on 4th June 1854 at St Mary Magdalene, Thorrington, Essex, no father given which is usual with baptisms but mother now as Sarah (name shown on Essex Records as SLOWGRON but they only get it right very occasionally)
    John SLOWGROVE was born 13th March 1849 and baptised 2nd September 1849 at St Mary Magdalene, Thorrington, Essex, again mother down as Sarah, no father given.
    There is a Alfred William HOWGROVE so would think again it should be SLOWGROVE born 1st July 1846 and baptised 23rd August 1846 at St Mary Magdalene, Thorrington, Essex with Sarah given as mother, no father given.
    Also an Alfred Llogtove, so again assume SLOWGROVE born 3rd October 1843 and baptised 24th December 1843 St Margdalene, Thorrington, Essex again with Sarah as mother and no father given.
    No other baptisms found for other children mentioned on 1861 Census.
    As there is another Alfred aged 2 on 1861 Census, assume the two earlier Alfred's died young.
    The parents of Sarah were the next people listed on the 1861 Census
