    Obituary for Donald R STEMP
    CHATFIELD -- Donald R. Stemp, 77, of Chatfield, former longtime owner of the Chatfield drug store, died Monday (Oct. 25, 1993) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester where he had been a patient five days.
    Born Jan. 16, 1916, in Montreal, Quebec, he later moved to Tracy, Minn., and graduated from high school there in 1934. He attended the University of Minnesota from 1934 to 1938 and received a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy. On Nov. 30, 1939, he married Fidelis Gaspard in Caledonia. From November 1939 until purchasing McKlintosk Drug in Chatfield on April 1, 1940, he worked in drug stores in Rochester, Stewartville and Red Wing. Mr. Stemp continued to be active in the store after he retired in 1978 and a son took over operation the business. He was a longtime member of the Chatfield Commercial Club and a member of Minnesota Pharmacists.
    Survivors include his wife; three sons, David of Chatfield, Ralph of Seattle, Wash., and Mark of Juneau, Alaska; a daughter, Gretchen (Mrs. Milo) Tuma of Muskego, Wis.; and nine grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.
    A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield with Monsignor Joseph R. McGinnis officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield.
    Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.
    Ralph STEMP believes his father was born in Oldham, England. Donald Ralph STEMP returned to America soon after his birth. However, an Aunt suggests he was born in Montreal on the journey that Frank and his wife made back to England for Frank to be involved in war service.

    Obituary for Fidelis Eva STEMP née GASPARD
    Fidelis Eva Stemp, 93, of Chatfield died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where she had lived 10 years.
    Fidelis Eva Gaspard was born December 16, 1910, in Caledonia and graduated from Loretto Catholic High School in Caledonia in 1928. After graduating from St. Theresa College in Winona in 1932 with a double major in English and Latin, she taught in Verndale, MN for two years and in Stewartville for four years.
    On November 30, 1939, she married Don Stemp at St. John's Catholic Church in Caledonia. They operated Stemps Drug Store in Chatfield for 38 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society, had been a member of the Chosen Valley Mothers club for 50 years, and was active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She enjoyed antiques.
    Fidelis was preceded in death by her husband on October 25, 1993.
    Survivors include three sons, David (Louise) of Chatfield, Ralph (Anne) of Seattle and Mark (Darlene) of Bethel, Alaska; a daughter, Gretchen (Milo) Tuma of Muskego, WI; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Therese Gaspard of Rochester.
    Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
    A funeral Mass for Fidelis Eva Stemp will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield, with the Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield.
