1881 Grafham, Surrey (baptism of Frank) 1891 Census - Rushett Common, Bramley, Surrey 1901 72 Old Town, Croydon, Surrey. Frank was with an Edward MANFIELD Aged 62 a Baker and Cake Maker and Seller born Bramley, Surrey and his wife Kate aged 53 born Croydon, Surrey. With them was a Cathie PADDON a Boarder aged 9 born ???, London and a Maud VILBURY?. Niece aged 15 a Domestic Servant born Battersea, London, a William HUGH a Boarders a Widower aged 38 a Laundryman Wash born Mitcham, Surrey, then there is Frank followed by Mary A BROOK a Boarders a Widow aged 80 born Croydon, Surrey. 1911 Not found at present 1903-1925 UK Royal Navy Registers of Seaman's Services 1900 to 1928. Ancestry has Frank born 17th August 1887 which would mean this was not the correct Frank but looking at the actual record they have joined the lines between the 1887 so the second 8 of the 1881 is joined to the 1 and it is definitely 1881 not 1887 and he is down as being born in Bramley, Surrey. As I have found him in Croydon on the 1901 Census as a Carpenter with his maternal Grandparents I am sure this is the correct Frank. He enlisted on 19th January 1903 for 12 years but it appears he extended his service to 1925. He was 5 foot 8 and a half inches, his hair and eyes were Brown he had a Fresh Complexion and he had a Scar on his arm. He is down as a Carpenter and sometimes as a Joiner, he servant on numerous ships, too many to list and he was shore pensioned on 18th January 1925 1891 Coast Guard Building, Titchfield, Hampshire. Father James BEATTIE aged 47 Coast Guard (Chief Office) born Scotland. Mother Serena aged 42 born Portsmouth, Hampshire. 1901 Albert Road (South Side). Serena was with her brother James BEATTIE aged 26 Royal Navy Leading Signalman born Cuckmere, Sussex. There was a visitor a Christina McFARLANE aged 16 born Portsmouth, Hampshire. 1911 4 Orchard Road, Southsea, Sussex. Mother Serena BEATTIE aged 64 a Widow having been married 30 years and having had 3 children all of whom survive at the date of this Census. she was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Sibling of Serena a Richard BEATTIE aged 33 a Deck Hand Dredger - Government born Seaford, Sussex 1966 31 Lakeside Avenue, Copner, Portsmouth, Hampshire (address given at administration)
