  1. 1871 Census - 16 Lewes Street, Brighton, Sussex
1881 Census - 17 Lewes Street, Brighton, Sussex. There was a lodger with the family  (an additional child to the information I was given)
1891 Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire. This was not what I expected to find. This Charles is single and a boarder born in Brighton, Sussex, he should have been married if it tied up with my thoughts on the 1901 below, so where did Doris the 10 year old come from. And I have found Doris as a Nurse Child, so it would appear that Charles did have a child in 1891 even though he is down as single. With a George COTTON and his wife in Barrow-in-Furness. So perhaps he did marry as Charles William, left his wife and then married as Charles Everett to have a different name.
1901 Census - 28 Fenton Street, Barrow-in Furness, Lancashire. Charles was born as Charles William but the marriage to Hannah shows him as Charles Everett, but Everett was the surname of his step-father so likely this was a name he took, and the age and birth place - Brighton is correct. However there is another marriage of a Charles William STOFFELL in the December quarter of 1889 in Fylde district of Lancashire to either an Eliza WALKER or a Ellen WRIGHT. As it is such an unusual name I would think this was a first marriage of the same person, will try to find on the 1891 Census. The children suggest that there was a previous marriage, the first Doris M is down as being 10 born in Furness, Lancashire, so this was before the marriage above, but would tie in with the marriage in 1889 and then the second child is Ethel aged 4 and then there is a son Bertram E aged 1 also born in Barrow, so I think these are children of the marriage to Hannah.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
