  1. 1841 25 Coronation Street, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
1851 Ruspel Street, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
1861 Not found (not with his wife and children)
1871 15 Norfolk Terrace, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Henry FREEMAN, brother-in-law aged 27 a Blacksmith born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire was with the family.
1881 3 Henley Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. There was three lodgers, a Annie  LOATS unmarried aged 37 born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, Sidney C LOATS , aged 8 a Scholar, born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire and Linguard LOATS aged 1 born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
    IGI baptism details
1891 Beche Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. It would appear that although he has not married Annie LOATS who appears with him on the 1881 Census he had children by her. Linguard who is down as LOATS on the 1881 Census is down as STOKES on this one and there is a daughter Nellie. The mother Annie is down as being 43 on this Census but is still down as single, a Housekeeper. William STOKES born 1872 the last son of John and Jane is still with the family. There there is Sidney C LOATS who was on the 1881 Census, down as son of Housekeeper, a Grocers Assistant
1901 40 Beche Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. John finally married Annie in 1897 as shown.
  2. 1861 26 East Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. I think this is correct as Amelia STOKES was with Jane on this Census, but John was not at home, there is a slight possiblity that Jane married the eldest son Edward, but as this marriage was to a Jane I think I have it correct, the only problem I have is that the son Edward, born in Cambridge on this Census is shown the correct age, but born in Ipswich on the 1871 Census.
1871 15 Norfolk Terrace, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Henry FREEMAN, brother-in-law aged 27 a Blacksmith born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire was with the family.
  3. 1881 3 Henley Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1891 Beche Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1901 40 Beche Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
  4.
  5. 1861 26 East Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1871 14 St Matthews Buildings, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Amelia is with her Grandparents, Edward and Mary STOKES on this Census.
I could not found the registration of Amelia on the BMD as Amelia STOKES, but there is a registration for a Jane Amelia FREEMAN, so I think this is this child and she was born as FREEMAN. She was registered in the same quarter that John and Jane married.
  6. 1861 26 East Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1871 15 Norfolk Terrace, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Henry FREEMAN, brother-in-law aged 27 a Blacksmith born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire was with the family.
1881 " Butchers Arms", 167 Newmarket Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. William was lodger at this address, William FRANCIS was the Head, a Publican and Lodging House Keeper, there were about nine lodgers with William FRANCES him, as well as his wife, a niece, a nephew and a sister.
1891 16 Abbey Street, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Two children - Edward 4 and Amelia Elizabeth 2 both born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
  7. 1871 15 Norfolk Terrace, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1891 14 New Street, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Children - Alice 3 and John 2 months both born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. There was Richard JACOBS, brother-in-law aged 23 single a General Labourer and Albert JACOBS, brother-in-law, aged 18 single a Carpenters Apprentice  both born Cambridge, living with John and Annie.
1901 14 New Street, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Children - Alice 13, John 10 and Albert 7 all born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
  8. 1871 15 Norfolk Terrace, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Henry FREEMAN, brother-in-law aged 27 a Blacksmith born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire was with the family.
  9. 1881 3 Henley Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. There was three lodgers, a Annie LOATS unmarried aged 37 born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, Sidney C LOATS , aged 8 a Scholar, born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire and Linguard LOATS aged 1 born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
  10. 1881 3 Henley Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1891 Beche Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1901 11 Henley Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. They had a son Linguard William STOKES aged 1 born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
  11. 1891 Beche Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1901 40 Beche Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
  12. 1881 3 Henley Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1891 Beche Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
1901 "Fox and Hounds", 28 London Road, Daventry, Northamptonshire. Sidney and Etheline appear to be with Etheline's mother as Sidney is down as son-in-law and Etheline as daughter, but the mothers name is Eliza NORTH, so either it Eliza has married again or it was Etheline's second marriage as the BMD shows her name as EMERY as I have it. Eliza was a Licensed Victualler and Farmer. There was also a servant a Edmund TIBBITTS aged 30 a Milkman, born Daventry, Northamptonshire

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
