1786 "Widower" of St Lawrence, Ramsgate, Kent (2nd marriage) Second marriage and family details from G Welsh The age of Sarah TERRY, when she was buried on the 22nd November 1815, is shown on the microfiche of the transcript of the burial register for St Peter, Broadstairs, Kent as 43 years. That would have made her birth year 1772. If the age at death is correct she married at 14 and had her first child at 15. More research required. Information from Bob FEARS 22/9/2009 See the "Age of Marriage Act 1929". This raised the minimum age for marriage to 16. Previously, the minimum age had been 14 for males and 12 for females. This means that the above marriage can be correct and that there are also other, what we would now deem underage, marriages that may be valid 1819 Parish of St Peter, Kent (1st marriage) 1839 Dumpton, St Peter, Kent (2nd marriage).
