  1. 1841 Census - Eagle Place, Martin Street, Hoxton New Town, London (Information for this Chart comes off of  http://www.greathead.org/Index.htm, However the 1841 information was not on it, and the details from this site are shown above, BUT on the 1841 Census there is an Esther TURMAINE aged 8 which does not tie up with the information we have, the first Esther having died and the second not being born as yet. Will have to see what else I can find.
I think I have now sorted the problem out, Esther was born in 1832 and a Hannah in 1838 who died in 1839, that is what I have now shown on the Chart above.
1851 Census - No 4 Red Lion Place, Rotherhithe, London. No children with them, so were was Esther as if the above correct she would have only been 8.
1861 Census -  Windsor Terrace, London
1871 Census -  116 Hampstead Road, Marylebone, London
Daniel was listed as a Freeman of Canterbury
  2. 1841 Census - Eagle Place, Martin Street, Hoxton New Town, London
1851 Census - No 4 Red Lion Place, Rotherhithe, London. No children with them, so were was Esther as if the above correct she would have only been 8.
1861 Census -  Windsor Terrace, London
1871 Census -  116 Hampstead Road, Marylebone, London
  3. 1841 Census - Eagle Place, Martin Street, Hoxton New Town, London
    1861 in Windsor Terrace, London
1871 Census -  116 Hampstead Road, Marylebone, London
1881 Census - 13 Roderick Road, Marylebone, London, England, Mary was living with her sister Esther
  4. 1841 Census - Eagle Place, Martin Street, Hoxton New Town, London
1851 Census - Not found at present
1861 Census -  Windsor Terrace, London. Age for ESTHER ties up with 1841 and this was information we already had.  So definitely born around 1832 not 1843.
1871 Census - 334 High Holborn, Holborn, London. Esther on this Census is down as 36 on this Census, everything else correct except name is spelt TURMAING. She is an Assistant, a Milliner with a James BURDEN 36 a Milliner born St Giles, Middlesex. He was a widower but has two soneliving with him.
1881 Census - 13 Roderick Road, Marylebone, London, England, Mary was living with her sister Mary Ann. Have checked this Census and Esther is one year younger than Mary so this is where the problem occurs, there were in fact both ten years older than they stated on this Census. We had Esther born in 1843 but she was actually born in 1832, then we had an Esther born 1839 and died 1839 but surely they would not have name a child the same as one living. For the present I have swopped the two ESTHER;s round and put the second ones name in ( ) with a query (I think this ESTHER was a HANNAH)
  5. On information I have found on the Web there was a child Esther born in 1839 and died in the same year, as there was already a child with the name ESTHER I would think this was unlikely. There is no Esther on the BMD in London, but there is a Hannah born December quarter 1838 in St Luke, Middlesex, which would tie up.
  6. 1861 Census -  Windsor Terrace, London
1871 Census -  116 Hampstead Road, Marylebone, London
1881 Census -  2 Albany Place, Marylebone, London. Elizabeth's? parents and brother lived as a separate household within the same house
1891 Census -  2 Redhill Place, St Pancras, London
1901 Census -  30 Wellesley Road, St Pancras, London
  7. And was have his Hannah down as being born in 1853 and death in 1923 but at present cannot find her anywhere.

The original information for this Chart started with a contact through Genes Reunited from a James and Liz PHILLIPS, I then started adding information using Ancestry.com, the IGI, BMD's and various other sources. I then found http://www.greathead.org/Index.htm which covers in detail the CAREY and TURMAINE families and a lot of the information has been taken from that site. My thanks to Jan COOPER the originator of that site for a wonderful bit of investigative Family History which has saved me hours of work. This is a fairly remote connection to my own family and comes through my wife's side POLTON - STEDMAN - PAGE - CAREY.
Certain problems with this Chart and the children on it. I am not certain that the final HANNAH existed. I have also altered some of the other children from the information I originally had.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
