  1. 1841 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent. Harriet on the 1851 but Mary on the 1841. Could be different children as Mary on the 1841 is down as only being 9 so that would make 1832 birth. I would expect Harriet to be on the 1841 Census, which is why at the present time I have left as one child.
1851 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent
1861 Census - Lord of the Manor, St Lawrence, Kent. There was an Elizabeth WALES as a visitor aged 22 born Acol, Kent. Possibly a wife of one of the children above, she is down as married. At the same address is a Mary KNIGHT aged 21 born St Lawrence and a daughter Harriet aged 3 months born St Lawrence. Mary is down as wife. I am certain that this is the Mary above.
  2. 1841 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent. Harriet on the 1851 but Mary on the 1841. Could be different children as Mary on the 1841 is down as only being 9 so that would make 1832 birth. I would expect Harriet to be on the 1841 Census, which is why at the present time I have left as one child.

  4. 1841 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent. Harriet on the 1851 but Mary on the 1841. Could be different children as Mary on the 1841 is down as only being 9 so that would make 1832 birth. I would expect Harriet to be on the 1841 Census, which is why at the present time I have left as one child.
1861 Census - On vessel in "GULL" as an Able Seaman on the night of the Census - Sunday April 7th 1861.
  5. 1841 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent. Harriet on the 1851 but Mary on the 1841. Could be different children as Mary on the 1841 is down as only being 9 so that would make 1832 birth. 6. 1841 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent.
1861 Lord of the Manor, St Lawrence, Kent.
1871 Census - Providence Tavern, 31 Queen Street, Ramsgate, Kent. With the family was Emma KNIGHT, sister, aged 22 a Barmaid, born Ramsgate, Kent, an Edith M Chapman, niece, aged 3 born Ramsgate, Kent. There was also a R William, no employment a lodger, aged 25 born Edinburgh, Scotland
1881 Census - Spread Eagle, 153 High Street, Ramsgate, Kent. With the family was Annie Louisa Chapman, aged 17 niece, born Ramsgate, Kent. There was also a William Hunt a Potman aged 21 born Brenchley, Kent with the family.
1911 Eagle Hotel 153 High Street Ramsgate, Kent. Mary was with her daughter Harriet and her family.
  7. 1851 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent
  8. 1851 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent
1871 Census - 8 Hertford Place, Ramsgate, Kent
1881 Census - 6 Willsons? Road, Ramsgate, Kent. It would appear that Ann had remarried as she is down with a George Cladingbowl. There are five children which I would this are from George's first marriage, one child from George and Ann's marriage and Sarah and Edward CHAPMAN from the marriage to Walter, both down as wife's child before marriage. This becomes a most complicated Chart. I cannot find the death of Walter or the marriage of Ann to George but I am sure this is the correct family on the 1881 Census. I have put all the details from the 1881 Census on above. There was also a servant a Richard BENCHLEY a Mariners Apprentice, Aged 19 born Ramsgate, Kent. I think he ties up with the BRENCHLEY's who are also part of this line and have their own Charts.
1891 Census - 127 Clapham Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk. George P CLADINGBOWL aged 74 born Ramsgate, Kent, father of George above was with the family on this Census.
1901 Census - 28 Windem Road, Kirkley, Suffolk. Ann is down as Alice on this census, but I do not think it is another wife, as same age and born in Ramsgate. I think if George had married again his new wife would have been born outside of Ramsgate, as he was now living in Suffolk. Edward appears to be with the family (27 years old) but is down as Cladingbowl not Chapman. Harold is down as Harry
  9. 1851 Census - Manstone, Thanet St Lawrence, Kent
1861 Census - Jettimine? Cottage, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, Kent

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
