Family History, Yarrow Chart 0800 Thomas Yarrow and Mary Smith

1841 Census - Mallory Yard, Henham Village, Essex. There was a Henry Mansford, aged 20 with the family, an Agricultural Labourer Father - Joseph YARROW, mother Susannah GRIGGS (IGI) - Details of Thomas and Mary from IGI 1841 Census - Mallory Yard, Henham Village, Essex. There was a Henry Mansford, aged 20 with the family, an Agricultural Labourer 1851 Census - Henham Village - Peter was with his mother a Mary YARROW, aged 53 a Pauper, Ag Lab's wife, although she is down as a Widow, she was born in Henham, Essex, Peter also has a brother Joseph aged 15 also an Ag Lab born Henham, Essex, living with him and his mother. The interesting thing about this is that either in the same property or next door is a James YARROW and family who can be found on YARROW Chart 0700. As yet I cannot make a connection between the two YARROW families. A search of the 1841 Census might give the answer to whether the unknown husband of Mary and James YARROW were brothers. 1861 Census - Cottages, Henham, Essex. (Ancestry again completely wrong with their indexing, (see 1871 Census) on this one they have Mary down as JANOB, born Checkney, Essex. 1871 Census - Chickney Road, Henham, Essex. Mary is by herself on this Census. A widow, down as being born in Chickney, Essex (Ancestry has this entry completely wrong, has her as Mary GAMON as a visitor with another family called TANT, nothing like the true information when you look at the actual census page, 1881 Census - Henham Village, Henham, Essex. Mary YARROW, the mother of Peter is with the family on this Census. Details of Thomas and Mary from IGI Birth and baptism details taken from the IGI. There was a Henry Mansford, aged 20 with the family, an Agricultural Labourer 1851 Henham Village, Henham, Essex 1861 Henham Hall, Henham, Essex 1870 US Census - Republican, Clay, Kansas; Roll: M593_430; Page: 193; Image: 386. 1880 US Census - Place: Union, Clay, Kansas; Roll: T9_376; Family History Film: 1254376; Page: 140.1000; Enumeration District: 34; Image: 0681. Birth and death details IGI. As they have the parents down as Thomas YARROW and Mary SMITH I am fairly certain that they are the same parents as for Peter YARROW. There are lots of YARROW's on the IGI in Henham, Essex, so I am sure we will find other siblings. Birth and baptism details taken from the IGI. Father is down as being a Thomas YARROW, mother a Mary. The children' birth etc of James and Mary which I will show on YARROW Chart 0700 on this site all correspond to what we had, BUT the mother is shown as Mary REED not Mary PHILLIPS which was the information we were given. 1841 Census - Mallory Yard, Henham Village, Essex. Elizabeth and William had three children, Walter aged 10 (I think this must be a son from a previous marriage of William's as William and Elizabeth did not get married until 1846 and Elizabeth would have only been 14 when she had William if it had been her son.) 1861 Dewes Green, Berden, Essex. 1871 Dewes Green, Berden, Essex, There was a niece with the family (proving I have the correct family) she was a Esther YARROW, aged 7 born Little Chesterford, Essex. However I do not have an Esther YARROW as a child of any family. I think Esther was a child of Peter YARROW and Ellen SMITH, Ellen died and Peter remarried, I think Esther went to live with her Aunt at this point. I have put her on the YARROW Chart 0701 with a similar comment. 1841 Census - Mallory Yard, Henham Village, Essex. A search of the 1841 Census might give the answer to whether the unknown husband of Mary and James YARROW were brothers. 1861 Census - Little Chesterford, Essex - (We had the father and mother of Alice, and although the fathers information is correct to birth place and year of birth her mothers information is not. The 1861 Census shows an Ellen born about 38. The information we have is for an Emma born 1848, as this would have meant that Alice would have been born when Emma was 10 I do not think that the Emma we had was Alice's mother. Possibly the Ellen on the 1861 Census died and he married an Emma who was a lot younger than his first wife. This might show up in later Censuses. 1871 Census - Chickory Wood, Henham, Essex - Ancestry.com has the family down as Yavion, but very clear at Yarrow on the Census. They are back in Henham, Essex. Peters wife is now indeed Emma not Ellen and there is a large gap between the age of the first children and the last two, so I have put two marriages on the chart above with the last two children as Emma's and the others as Ellen's 1881 Census - Henham Village, Henham, Essex. Mary YARROW, the mother of Peter is with the family on this Census. There is a John YARROW aged 11 on this Census. this is the same age as the Thomas on the 1871 Census, so have not put on a new child, but put (John) underneath Thomas. 1891 Census - Lodge Gate, Henham, Essex. (There is a Rachel YARROW at the same address, a widow, aged 29 with a son Frederick, age 4). It would appear that Alice went to the US without her parents. This substantiates my thinking that there is a connection between the James YARROW on YARROW Chart 0700. Birth and baptism details taken from the IGI. There is a Joseph YARROW on this Census. He is born in England in 1835 and living in Kansas where other members of the family moved to. I cannot find him in England, so think it possible that this is the same Joseph as above. He does not appear as Joseph YARROW on any later US Census. Birth and baptism details taken from the IGI.
