  1. 1861 5 Tower Hill, Bere Regis, Dorset
1871 2 Barrow Hill, Bere Regis, Dorset
1881 Tower Hill, Bere Regis, Dorset. Head of House was John COBB, Widower, Age 75 years, Ag Labourer, father of Mark
    1891 Cottage, Hippenscombe, Hungerford, Wiltshire
    1901 No.2 Stoners, Bowner, Hampshire
At their wedding Mark and Arabella both gave their age as 20 years. At the 1881 Census their ages were given as 25 and 24 years respectively.
  2. 1861 Woodlake, Bloxworth, Dorset. Arabella is with her family who are as follows: John BURDEN Head, aged 43 a Labourer born Bloxworth, Cambridgeshire, Eliza wife 40 a Laundress, born Weymouth, Dorset, (then all the children born Bloxworth) Ann 16 Scholar, James 14 Labourer, Jane 12 Scholar, Ellen 9 Scholar, then Arabella 7 Scholar and it continues with Charles 5 Scholar, Adaline 3 Scholar and George 1.
1871 Bloxworth, Dorset. Family on this Census - John BURDEN 53 Ag Lab born Bloxworth, Eliza 50 Laundress born Weymouth, then children all born Bloxworth except last person) Elizabeth A 26? Laundress, then Arabella then William C 15 Ag Lab, Adeline E 13 Scholar, Ambrose 10 Scholar, then there is a Eliza WYATT down as daughter aged 24 born Weymouth, Dorset.
    1874 Bere Regis, Dorset
1881 Tower Hill, Bere Regis, Dorset.
Living with Mark's father John COBB (75) Widower Ag Labourer
1891 Cottage, Hippenscombe, Hungerford, Wiltshire as Abler
At their wedding Mark and Arabella both gave their age as 20 years. At the 1881 Census their ages were given as 25 and 24 years respectively.
Father - John BURDEN - Labourer, mother Eliza BURDEN
IGI Baptism - There is another child for John and Eliza with the same batch number - Jane Burden - baptised 22nd April 1849 Bloxworth, Dorset, England
  3. 1871 The Soke, New Alresford, Hampshire. Kate COOPER was shown as born 1863. However, it seems certain that despite the date of  birth differences shown on all the census returns this is the correct Kate COOPER. On this census Kate is 8. There is no father shown and Rebecca COOPER is her mother, 34, a Laundress, born New Alresford, Hampshire. She is actually entered as Mother which is unusual as it is usually Wife of Widow, so this possibly suggests that Rebecca was not married. There is also a daughter Louisa, aged 7, and a son Harry aged 6.
1881 Hostel of Dependence of St Michael's Scool, Langley Marish, Buckinghamshire.  A servant age 20 making her born in 1861, so nearer to the age shown on the 1901 census when she was Kate COBB.
1891 New Alesford Workhouse, Alresford, Hampshire. There is a Kate COOPER as an Inmate of this workhouse, ages 25 (1865) single and born
Alresford. If born as shown on the 1901 Census she would be around 32 so not certain this is the same person when this information was first found. Also in the Workhouse was Ernest (8 months)
Subsequently information from the 1871 and 1881 census returns was found which suggests it is the same person.
    1901 No.2 Stoners, Rowner, Hampshire
IGI - I believe I have found the baptism of Kate on the IGI, it show her mother correctly as Rebecca and shows the father as Henry. The batch number also shows another child, Lucy, baptised 22nd November 1863 Alresford, Hampshire
  4.
  5. 1881 Tower Hill, Bere Regis, Dorset.
1891 Bloxworth, Dorset. Living with her grandmother Eliza BURDEN (73) widow Laundress born Weymouth, Dorset  and her son Ambrose (29) Farm Servant born Bloxworth, Dorset. Another grandchild  living with them was Albert HARWOOD (17) Agricultural Labourer born Bloxworth, Dorset
It is possible that this was Edith Ethelind COBB born June quarter 1874 Wareham District, Dorset
1901 60 Coombe Park, Weston, Bath, Somerset. Possible address -  There is an Edith COBB at this address born in 1875 but she is down as being born in Kindon, Dorset. I cannot find a place called Kindon in Dorset, so we think it could be Bindon which is near Bere Regis. If it is the Edith on the Chart above she was with a Rose ELTON as the Head, aged 56 Living on her own means, born Stanton, Dorset, with her was her sisters, Frances aged 54 born Stanton, Dorset, and Louisa 52 born Burton, Bucks, both also living on their own means.
  6. 1881 Tower Hill, Bere Regis, Dorset.
    1891 Cottage, Hippenscombe, Hungerford, Wiltshire
    1901 No.2 Stoners, Rowner, Hampshire
Note referring to birth registration: Was this Albert James registered Wareham District, Dorset March quarter 1879?
  7. 1891 Cottage, Hippenscombe, Hungerford, Wiltshire
1901 Chark Farm, Crofton, Hampshire. Catherine appear to be a servant with the following family: Henry Smith 30 Farmer born Crofton, Hampshire
Blanche Smith wife 37 born Rowner, Hampshire, Lavinia B Smith 2 daughter born Crofton, Hampshire  William H A Smith 9 months son born Crofton, Hampshire. There were also the following visitors: Florence Hopkins 43 born Rowner, Hampshire, Rowena L Hopkins 6 born Groftere Underneral, Northamptonshire,
  8. 1891 Cottage, Hippenscombe, Hungerford, Wiltshire
1901 No 2 Stoners, Rowner, Hampshire
1913 62 Frederick Street, Brighton, Sussex
  9. 1891 Cottage, Hippenscombe, Hungerford, Wiltshire
    1901 No.2 Stoners, Rowner, Hampshire
  10. 1901 No.2 Stoners, Rowner, Hampshire
  11. 1891 New Alesford Workhouse, Alresford, Hampshire. There is an Ernest COOPER at this address which is where Kate COOPER was on this Census. He is not listed with her but is down as being 8 months old and born in Alresford, Hampshire so I think it is her son.
1901 No.2 Stoners, Rowner, Hampshire. Down as COBB on this Census but I think that he was born as COOPER
There is a registration for an Ernest Bailey COOPER in the September quarter of 1890 in the Winchester district, who I think could be this child
  12. 1901 No.2 Stoners, Rowner, Hampshire. Down as COBB on this Census but I think that he was born as COOPER
  13. 1901 No.2 Stoners, Rowner, Hampshire. Down as COBB on this Census but I think that he was born as COOPER
There is a registration for an Alfred COOPER in the June quarter of 1896 in the Christchurch district, Hampshire, this is the nearest to this year that I can find in Hampshire and Dorset for this name.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
