Problems with the Grandchildren on this Chart
At the present time it has been impossible to find where the grandchildren fit in. A search was done on FreeBMD for each of the daughters together with first BURGESS and then DAVIES as the name of the spouse.
    Ellen/Helen: none for either name
    Elizabeth: none suitable
Caroline: September 1872 Manchester District, Lancashire to Richard DAVIES, not found on 1881
Isabella: December quarter 1876 Chorlton District, Lancashire to Thomas BURGESS, not found on 1881
Albert BURGESS was not found on the 1901 census
George H BURGESS was not found on the 1891 census
David DAVIES, none found on 1881, one born Chester on 1901 but no clues as to whether it is correct.
Walter DAVIES, not found on 1881, three in Cheshire in 1901 but none born Chester

1881 3 Risley Street, Oldham Below Town, Oldham, Lancashire
1891 816 Rochdale Road, Harpurhey, Lancashire. Visiting them was Thomas WILKES (33) Warehouseman (unemployed) and Jane WILKES (32)
    both born Manchester, Lancashire
1901 22 Old Street, Ashton under Lyme, Lancashire. A servant was Lily CHILVERS (23) Domestic Servant born Manchester, Lancashire
1911 Whittington Barracks, No.6 Regimental District, Whittington, Litchfield, Staffordshire. Entered as married, but husband living in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire. Listed as Mother-in-law with her daughter Florence BARNBROOK and her family. Florence's husband was not listed, there were four children including twins aged 9 months....perhaps that's why she is with her daughter!
  6. 1851 Ratonmoore?, March, Cambridgeshire. Servants were Philip DUFF (18) born Ireland, Mary Ann CONNOR (15) Nursemaid born Needingworth, Huntingdonshire and Frances NEWELL (21) Housemaid bor Bugden, Huntingdonshire all unmarried
1861 Water Street, Castleton Within, Castleton, Lancashire

1861 Water Street, Castleton Within, Castleton, Lancashire as Eliza
1871 Mearfield, Castleton Further, Castleton, Lancashire as Elizabeth
1881 102 West Park Street, Salford, Lancashire, down as a Lodger, aged 27 born Cambridgeshire. She is with a Samuel and Catherine OGDEN (possible)
1891 539 Rochdale Road, Manchester, Lancashire (possible) With Elizabeth and Thomas on this Census was a Annie BURGESS, niece aged 16 a Boot Machinist, born Rochdale, Lancashire and Elizabeth BURGESS aged 3 born Manchester, Lancashire.
1901 42 Rochdale Road, Harpurhey, Manchester, Lancashire (possible) There had a daughter Elizabeth TICKLE aged 13 born Manchester, Lancashire. Is this really the Elizabeth BURGESS aged 3 on the 1891 Census and because I believe at least her mother Isabella COUSINS had died in December quarter 1888 in Prestwich district, Lancashire aged 35 they had adopted her and she had taken the name TICKLE.
    1911 Not found
  8. 1861 Water Street, Castleton Within, Castleton, Lancashire
1871 Mearfield, Castleton Further, Castleton, Lancashire
1881 539 Rochdale Road, Manchester, Lancashire (possible) If this is the correct family, which I now believe it is, the children were - Annie 5, Henry 4 Earnest 3 and Thomas 3 months. There was a Servant with the family who was an Alice BURGESS aged 14 all of them were down as being born in Manchester - We do not think the servant was a child of Isabella as she was born before the marriage of Isabella and Thomas and Isabella would have only been 12 at the time of Alice's birth - Note the address of 539 Rochdale Road is the same as that of Elizabeth TICKLE né3 COUSINS and her husband Thomas on the 1891 Census, when they had two BURGESS children living with them, hence our reasoning that we have found the correct family.
Registration for an Isabel COUSINS September quarter 1854, but in the St Ives District, Huntingdonshire whilst previous children were registered in North Witchford. Therefore, given that the name is not exactly the same we are unsure as to whether this is the right child.
There was an Isabella COUSINS marriage in the December quarter 1876 in Chorlton District to a Thomas BURGESS; there are BURGESS children living with grandparents on difference census returns.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
