Cambridge District, Cambridgeshire possibly or Hunts as Census
  1. 1841 Dring's Cottage, Parkhall Drove, Somersham, Huntingdonshire
1851 Dring's Cottage, Parkhall, Somersham, Huntingdonshire
In the same property were Sarah TOMLINE (24) and Thomas TOMLINE(30), Assistant and Carpenter born in Norfolk, and their son Charles (10m) born in Somersham, Huntingdonshire. Is Sarah Woolstone's daughter?
1861 Census - Fen, Somersham, Huntingdonshire
  2. 1841 Dring's Cottage, Parkhall Drove, Somersham, Huntingdonshire
1851 Dring's Cottage, Parkhall, Somersham, Huntingdonshire In the same property were Sarah TOMLINE (24) and Thomas TOMLINE(30), Assistant and Carpenter born in Norfolk, and their son Charles (10m) born in Somersham, Huntingdonshire. Is Sarah Woolstone's daughter?
1861 Census - Fen, Somersham, Huntingdonshire. On the 1861 Census Mary is down as being 61 years of age and born in Warboys, Huntingdonshire, which would have meant she was born in 1800 in which case her doubts about her age stated in Note 5 might be correct and this would mean she was only 91 when she died.
1871 Census - Ellington, Huntingdonshire. I am not certain that this is the correct Ann but is the only one that comes up on Ancestry.com within a 20 year age range of 1800. She is a widow born in 1798 so as every time we find her her age varies is could be her. In 1861 her husband was a Farmer of 3 acres and on this Census she herself is a Farmer of 12 acres and as her husband had only died within 9 months of this Census I would think that this was quite likely. She is down as being born in Ellington but again her birth places vary. She was employing 3 men and 2 boys.
1881 Parkhall Road, Somersham, Huntingdonshire. Living with her was her granddaughter, Elizabeth as Companion
1891 Barlow's Farm, Somersham, Huntingdonshire. Living with her was her granddaughter, Elizabeth as Companion
Extract from Fenland Notes & Queries vol 11 1898 p 148 sent by Colin DRING 27/9/2000
"In Dec 1891 died in Somersham Fen a widow named Ann Dring said to be in her 104th year, having been born in 1788. She married circa 1812Woolston Dring and spent the greater part of her life in Somersham Fen. She had 7 children, 5 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom married and with their partners were alive at the time of her death. The oldest was about 76 and the youngest 60. 3 of her sons had celebrated their golden weddings. There were 29 grandchildren, over 60 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. It may be stated that the old lady herself was sceptical as to the great age to which her friends stated that she had lived but there is no doubt that she died at a remarkably advanced age."
  3. 1851 Warner Meadow, Somersham, Huntingdonshire. As well as his wife and three children there was a Servant, a John WOODS, aged 20 a Farm Labourer, born Somersham, Huntingdonshire and four lodgers who were all farm labourers. These were Thomas Mitchell, age 21, John Aspinall, age 17, William Lane, age 18 and David Dean a widower age 44, he was born in Pidley, John and William were born in Somersham and Thomas was born in Needingworth, all in Huntingdonshire
1861 Warners Farm, Somersham, Huntingdonshire. (Note on the same page of the Census is his father and his wife and next door to him is a William DRING and family who would have been six years younger than John above, we have John born in 1814 and then an unknown child born in 1825, I would think that this William was a brother of John, born in 1820, especially as they were both Farm Bailiffs. However looking on my sisters GEDCOM this William is connected to another family, with his father as Johnson DRING. Also with the family of Woolstone DRING were two lodgers, a Woolston DRING age 20 an Ag Lab born Somersham Huntingdonshire and a George DRING age 22 an Ag Lab born Somersham, Huntingdonshire. Again these could possibly belong to this family, but they are not on the list we had originally and would be the youngest children of Woolstone DRING if they belonged to him but they do not appear living with him on the 1851 Census so have not included them as I would have thought that as they would have been only 10 and 12 that they would have done. Again this Woolstone seems to be belong to the Johnson DRING family. I hope at some time we can sort them all out.

1861 Huntingdon Road, Wyton, Huntingdonshire. Also on this Census was a John DRING, aged 18 a nephew a Mill Labourer, born Somersham, Huntingdonshire and also a Sarah AYRES, a Stepmother, aged 69 a widow born Same, Norfolk
    1871 Huntingdon Road, Wyton, Huntingdonshire
    1881 Farm House, Wyton, Huntingdonshire
There is a marriage on the BMD of a Charles DRING to an Elizabeth ABLETT on the December quarter of 1852 in St Ives district which could be the marriage of this couple. It would mean that Charles was only 19 so I am not certain this is the correct one, they had definitely had a child three years later than this.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
