    Civil War Record - Enlisted December 1863 - Discharged 17th August 1965 - Private in "I" Company 3 Michigan Cavalry - Disability incurred - Lung difficulties which began about 1st March 1864. He was subsequently hospitalized in Nashville, Tennessee, Detroit, Michigan and Louisville, Kentucky. Records state that he was 5 feet 8 and half inches tall with hazel eyes, fair skin and brown hair. Refused a pension 1885 Henry later received one in 1907 when he was 78 years old. After his death Jane received $36 monthly.
    Father - Joseph GREEN - Labourer Mother Elizabeth BARTELL. Joseph ROWE alias GREEN followed his son to America where he used the name ROWE. He was a Farmer and died on the 20th October 1870 in Pulaski, Jackson county, Michigan, USA of Inflammation of the Lungs.

    There was a Grace Mercy ROWE birth registered in the June quarter 1855 in the West Ham District, Essex. No obvious marriage or death. The birth was not in the place we would have thought it ought to be, but the date is right and there were no other Grace ROWE births in the right quarter
    We were given the name George WHEELER as the husband of Grace ROWE
    However, when searching the USA census returns the only Grace WHEELER born about 1855 in England is the wife of Joseph WHEELER. The following refer to Joseph and Grace WHEELER
