  1. Note from John ROWELL 20 July 1984
    Oliver HILLS Will made 28 Feb 1707 names sons Oliver and Gilbert and daughters; Joanna wife of John DRING, Alice, Ann, wife of John ELMORE.Also a granddaughter Elizabeth LUNTON, indicating that there was another daughter who was deceased when he wrote the Will. If so, John LUNTON, awitness, was probably the unknown daughter's husband. Also named was a Sarah DUNCASTER with no identification or relationship indicated.
    The following Will has been copied as accurately as possible to include the punctuation and spelling of the original copy. The right hand edge of the copy had parts of words, or whole words missing and only some of the more obvious have been included. Words, or parts of words, which were unreadable throughout the Will have been shown with a "?".
    Will of Oliver Hills
    In the name of god Amen I Oliver Hills (senior?) of Warboys In the County of Huntingdon yeoman being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind And memory do therefore given to Almighty god for it : do make And ordain this my present last will And Testament in manner And form following that is to say first And principally I commend my soule into the hands of Almighty god hopeing through the merrits of my blessed saviour Jesus Christ to have free pardon And forgiveness of all my sinsAnd to Inherit everlasting life : And my body I commit to the Earth tobe decently buryed : And as for such temporal (?) estate as it hathp leased Almighty god to bestow upon me I do give And dispose thereof as followeth - - Item All that my messuadg or tenement with All its appurtiment & the land belonging now standing And being within the Town And bounds of Warboys aforesaid : that which I latley purchased of Mr John Lulter of Broughton : I do give And bequeath until Oliver my son his heirs And Assignes for ever upon condition that he the said Oliver my son his Heirs or Assignes shall pay or cause to be paid on my said messuadgor Tenement the full sum of Forty pounds of currant Money of England in Manner And form following : That is to say the sum of Ten pounds the which I do give And bequeath unto my son Gilbert his Heirs or Assigns to be within the term of one whole year next after my decease : The sum often pounds more the which I do give and bequeath unto my daughter Joana the wife of John Dring her heirs or Assignes to be paid within the termof one whole year next after my decease : The sum of ten pounds more the which I do give And bequeath unto my daughter Alice her Heirs or Assigns to be paid within the term of two years next after my decease : And thesum of ten pounds more Resudue thereof which I do give And bequeath untomy daughter Anne the wife of John Elmor her Heirs or Assing to be paid within the term of two years next after my decease : Now if my said son Oliver or his Heirs shall refuse or neglect to pay the said sum of forty pounds or part of it accordingly as I have above bequeathed it then my will is that my said messuadg or tenement with its Appurtinance shall be forfeited for the non payment thereof : And shall be unto All those of mysaid children their Heirs which shall remain unpaid : Item I do give And bequeath unto Elizabeth Lunton my grand daughter my calf heiffer : Item Ido give And bequeath unto Sarah Duncaster one good yew and Lamb : Item I do give And bequeath unto my daughter Alice All my household goods : Andas for my horned Goasts (?) horses Mares sheep And All other my moveable goods And chattels whatsoever unbequeathed : my will is they shall be sould. : And the money thereby arising I do hereby give and bequeath to be equally divided And shared between my five children hereafter named :(aridells?) Gilbert Oliver Alice Joane And Anne by even and equal proportion : And further my will is that my son Oliver shall peaceably And quietly let my daughter Alice Injoy her dwelling in my said messuadge or tenement for the term of two years from the time of my decease And no longer ; the which if my said son Oliver shall Refuse to do then my will is that my said son Oliver shall pay unto my said daughter Alice in Lieu there of the sum of four pounds of currant money of England : And lastly my will is And I hereby do constitute make and Appoint my son Oliver And my daughter ? full And Sole Executors of this my last will and Testament: In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand And Seal the Eight and Twentyth day of february In the year of our Lord god 1704
