  1. On same date as sister Jane
  2. Addresses - 1849 Cliffs End, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, Kent
  3. 1851 Census - Pole Ash, St Lawrence, Kent. Having found this family on the 1851 Census it has changed the position of where we had Mercy, she appears to be younger than we thought. They had a son William, aged 1 born St Lawrence on this census. I will put a chart on for this family. Also with the family and so proving it to be the correct one was a Mary GIBBS aged 7 a niece and Sarah GIBBS aged 4 also a niece both born St Lawrence, Kent.
  4. 1861 Census - Warehorn, St Nicholas at Wade, Kent. Still only had William who was 11 and a Scholar. No one else with he family on this census
  5. 1841 Census - Great Cliffs End, St Lawrence, Kent. There was an Henry HOLLAMS, down as aged 15 (aged have been round up or down to nearest 5 years) born in Kent living with the family. Also a Daniel BUSHELL, who I think is 20, but could be 90.
  6. I cannot find Mercy and Edward HOGBIN after the 1861 Census. It is possible that Mercy died, but I cannot find a death on the BMD. On the 1871 Census there is an Edward HOGBIN of he correct aged born St Nicholas, Kent a Farm Bailiff at Chislet Court, Chislet, Kent. His wife is an Ann, aged 40, born Chislet, Kent. They have a son, a Henry FOSTER, aged 9, born Chislet, Kent. On the BMD there is a marriage of an Edward HOGBIN in the September quarter of 1869 in the Canterbury district to an Ann FOSTER, so this would all tie up. The son Henry FOSTER would be the son of Ann through a first marriage. I will put this on the HOGBIN chart but I would have liked confirmation that Mercy had died before being too sure that this is the situation.
  7. 1861 Census - Green Gagan, Chislet, Kent
  8. 1881 Census - Chislet Court House, Chislet, Kent.
  9. Edwards father was a Mile HOGBIN. I have details of this family on the 1841 Census, will put a chart on at some time for this family.
  10. 1871 Census - 26 Queens Gate, Mews Court. William was a visitor with a Charles TURNER and his wife
  11. 1901 Census - 32 Goodnestone Road, Sittingbourne, Kent. They had two children on this Census - George aged 19 a General Labouer, born Chislet, Kent and William aged 16 a General Labourer born Chislet, Kent. Will put a chart on for this family.
  12. 1881 Census - Chislet Street, Chislet, Kent. Children on this Census - Edward William aged 7 a Scholar, born Chislet, Kent, Mercy, aged 5 a Scholar, born Chislet, Kent and Mile aged 2 born Chislet, Kent
  13. 1891 Census - 87 Princes Street, Minster in Sheppey, Kent. On this Census William is down as being born in Ramsgate. Children on this Census - Edward W aged 18 a Ships Labourer (all children and Mary, Williams wife are down as being born in Canterbury on this Census) Mercy 15 a Servant Domestic, Miles 12 Scholar, George 9 Scholar and William 6 Scholar.
  14. 1891 Census - Upstreet, Chislet, Kent. They had a son, a George W FOSTER aged 5 born Chislet, Kent
  15. 1901 Census - Upstreet, Chislet, Kent. Children, George W FOSTER aged 15 and Annie M B FOSTER aged 5 both born Chislet, Kent
  16. 1851 Census - Redeway, Farm, Herne, Kent. There is a George FOSTER down as being born possibly in 1830 in Chislet, Kent at this address. It is a job to see the age as the line through the age is very heavy. I think this is the right person.  He is with a Thomas ADLEY and family.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
