There is a George registered in the March quarter of 1879 but in the Salford District which does not include Newton where George Henry is shown to be born. On the other hand, the September quarter 1878 registration is in the West Derby District which also does not include Newton. The only Prestwich District (which includes Newton) registration was for a George in the June quarter 1880. As he was baptised as Henry George a search was made for a birth registration using that name but with no success.
