  4. 1911 129 Regent Street, Kettering, Northamptonshire. There were two children with John and Rebecca on this census, down as Grandchildren, Bert aged 10 and Frank aged 8 both born in Fulham, London. (now confirmed children of family above)
    Information from Robert HYDE 2/7/2009
    Bert left Fulham age 16 to join the South Wales Borderers in Abergavenny, a regiment famous for the Zula Wars and Rourkes Drift. Bert met his wife, Alice Maud COOMBE (b 1902 Exeter) while stationed in South Wales. They had four children, all born abroad, although only two turn up in the Army lists. His family were stationed with him in India at the outbreak of war in 1939. With the Gurka Rifles he saw active service in Burma and Singapore until Capture. Captain HYDE continued to serve throughout Asia including India, China, and Hong Kong all with the Gurka Rifles. Bert HYDE's medals and other artifacts collected from his travels were donated to the South Wales Borderers Museum after his death in 1991.

    Frank HYDE went to Leeds at the age of 14 according to my uncle where he married but had no children.
