    1891 Census - 5 George Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight. Also with the family was a George SWEETMAN, nephew, aged 19 a Printers Apprentice, born Ryde Isle of Wight. There was also three lodgers.

    1901 Census - Ebenezer Cottage, St Helen's Ryde, Isle of Wight. Elizabeth's mother, a Jane TAYLOR a widow aged 63 a Shirt Machinist, born Arreton, Isle of Wight, Hampshire was with Alfred and Elizabeth so giving us the maiden name of Elizabeth.
    On the Isle of Wight family history site there is a Alfred Walter JAMES born in 1901 with a TAYLOR as the mother's maiden name, a Harry George in 1902, an Ivy May in 1904, a Frederick Arthur in 1907, a Claude Edward in 1909, a Leslie Albert in 1910.
