  1. 1851 Census - Earith Cottage, Sidmonton, Hampshire. I think that the name Levington should be Lewington. Joseph does not appear on any Census as LEVINGTON although the information on the marriage details indicates that is his name and that was where we started. I have now found him on the 1851 Census down as aged 2 with William, his father, and Hannah his mother. The name definitely appears as Lewington on this Census. His father was 28 and a Shepherd, born ???, Berkshire. his mother was 23 down as a Shepherd's wife and born in ??? Berkshire, children Charles 4 Shepherd's son born ???, Berkshire, Joseph 2 Shepherd's son born Sidmonton, Hampshire and Frederick 3 months born Sidmonton, Hampshire. From there I went to the BMD and there is a Joseph LEWINGTON born March quarter 1849 Kingsclere district, Hampshire which I think is the correct person. I have therefore changed the chart above to make LEWINGTON the main name

    I think Henry was a child of this family, he was born in a gap between Annie and Elizabeth. As he died young he does not appear on any Census and there is no baptism for him on the IGI which would possibly prove it. There does seem to be another LEWINGTON family in HAMBLEDON as there is a Robert Frederick LEWINGTON born in the March quarter of 1877, there is no death from him before 1881 and if he was part of this family I would have thought he would have appeared on that Census with the family.
