    Engagement started on 20th October 1913 he signed for 12 years, his date of birth was given as 9th March 1895 and his birth place as West Ham, London and his occupation as Carter's Labourer, he was 5ft 9 and three quarters tall, his chest was 36 and a half inches he had Brown Hair, Eye colour I cannot read, a Dark Complexion and a Scar left eyebrow
    He started on the Pembroke II and was always a Stoker, he ended up on Pembroke II but in between including WWI he served on the Shannon, Dolphin, Crescent and Vulcan, (several time on each except the Vulcan which he only served on once.
