  1. Information for this Chart taken from the Family Bible purchased on 2nd June 1811 by Thomas. He gave the bible to youngest son George on 7th July 1867.
  2. There is a John MELLARS on the 1861 Census, born in Worksop in 1814 who I think could be this John MELLARS, he was 46 and an Ag Lab. His wife was Mary MELLARS, age 40, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire. They were living at 19 Hilton (could be Milton) Road, Worksop, Nottinghamshire. They had a large family, all born in Worksop, Ann, age 19, John, age 16, a Coal Miner, Henry, age 13, an Ag Lab, Charles, age 7, a Scholar, George, age 6, a Scholar, Herbert, age 3, also a Scholar, Mary Ann, age 2 and Elizabeth age 1. I have no proof that this is the correct John, so at present have kept it to a note.
  3. There was a Thomas MELLARS, born 1784 a Widower on the 1861 Census living at 3 East Gate, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, which I believe was our Thomas, from Note 1 above we know he was still alive in 1867, hence my thinking that this is the correct Thomas.
  4. There is a James MELLARS on the 1861, down as born in Nottingham, of the correct age living at St George Street, Snelland, Nottinghamshire, I have no proof that this is the correct James but it is likely, but I will not add a chart until I can get some confirmation that this is the correct family. It looks as though his occupation was a Dyer. Most of the people near him on the Census were in the Cotton business and his wife Frances who was 39 appears to be a Chiffoness (whatever that is but again it sounds to do with the cloth business. Whole family down as being born in Nottinghamshire. Children were, James, age 9, John, age 7, Emma, age 4 and Fanny, age 1.
  5. Cannot trace William MELLARS, there are three William MELLARS born in Nottinghamshire around 1812 but cannot tell if one of these is our William MELLARS.
  6. There are four deaths on the BMD for a Thomas MELLARS in Worksop. The one in 1873 fits the best as we believe he was alive in 1867, and the age when this Thomas died was 88 Years old so fitting exactly the age of our Thomas.
  7. The only death for a Mary MELLARS in Worksop before 1861 when we know William was a Widower is in 1840. As ages are not given on the Indexes until the 1860's it is not possibly to tell if this is the correct Mary.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
