  1. 1841 Census - Chorben? Street, Regents Park, Middlesex. Charles was 10 months old and his father was a William not born in Middlesex which is correct, he is down as being 30 but they round ages up and down on this census to at least the nearest 5 years. They do not really show a wife. The person below William MICKLEFIELD is an Elizabeth (and it looks like MUVELL, she is down as being 25) Then there is Charles. The person above William is a Louisa JONES who is down as being 25 and above her her husband Thomas JONES a Cowkeeper. I wonder if Thomas had died by 1851 and he had married Louise who in turn died by the 1861 Census.
1851 Census - 94 Mary Street, Regents Park, St Pancras, Middlesex. Charles was 10 and a Scholar. His father, aged 37, a Tailor Journeyman, born Chelmsford, Essex and his mother Louisa, aged 40 born Brighton, Sussex. No other children on Census. There was a Robert YOUNG, a visitor, aged 24 a Journeyman Tailor born Nottingham, Notts with the family.
1861 Census  - 94 Mary Street, Regents Park, St Pancras, Middlesex. Charles was with his father a William MICKLEFIELD who was a widower, aged 46 a Tailor and born in Chelmsford, Essex. There was a servant, an Eliza HAYTER aged 47, born Cowes, Hampshire and a lodger an Ellen CHAPLIN, unmarried, aged 16 and born in Easthampstead, Berkshire.
1863 4 Rupert Terrace, Camden Town, Middlesex (baptism of Maria)
1867 34 Redhill Street, Camden, Middlesex (baptism of Clara)
1865 23 St James? Road (? place - Kensington or Camden) (baptism of Emily)
1871 Census - 34 Redhill Street, St Pancras, Middlesex. There was a Mary Ann CRAWLEY with Charles and Sarah on this Census. She was a Visitor, aged 60 and born in Scotland. Also note that on this Census Charles is down as being 36, therefore born in 1835 where on the 1891 and 1901 Census he appears as though he was born in 1841. Possibly this is because he was so much older than Maud that he wanted to appear younger.
1881 Census - 62 Gloucester Crescent, Regents Park, St Pancras, Middlesex. There was a Servant, a Margaret LUNEMAN, age 49 a General Servant, born Kensington, London
1881 - There is this entry in the London Gazette on 28th June 1881
Notice is hereby given, that the Partnership lately subsisting between the undersigned, Reginald Wansbrough Kelly, Charles Robert Bloe, and Charles Evelyn Fayres Micklefield, under the style or firm of Kelly and Company, in the business of Piano and Harmonium Manufacturers and Dealers and Auctioneers, at 14 and 16 Mortimer Street, Middlesex Hospital, in the county of Middlesex, was, on the 26th day of November last, dissolved, so far as regards the said Charles Robert Bloe, who retired. The business will, as from the above date, be carried on by the said Reginald Wansbrough Kelly and Charles Evelyn Fayres Micklefield, under the style or firm of Kelly and Company, and by whom all debts owing to and from the late firm are to be received and paid. Dated this 20th day of June, 1881. R.W. Kelly, Charles R. Bloe, Charles E.F. Micklefield.  (There are 11 entries in the London Gazette for Charles Evelyn Fayres MICKLEFIELD)
1886, Kelly's Directory listed him as Charles Macklefield, 62 Gloucester Terrace, London NW.
1891 Census - 44 Tubbs Road, Willesden, Middlesex, Living with Maud and Charles was Maud's mother Ann, a widow aged 73 born Ramsgate, Kent.
1891 Census - 62 Gloucester Crescent, St Pancras, Middlesex. I had already been told by Donald KNIGHT that Charles appeared to be living in two places on the 1892 Census 62 Gloucester Terrace, London NW.  I have now found the MICKLEFIELD family at this address.
1894 C.E.F. Micklefield of 62 Gloucester Crecent, Regent's Park and R.W. Kelly of Dollar Brae, Northwood were both declared bankrupt in 1894
1886, Kelly's Directory listed him as Charles Macklefield, 62 Gloucester Terrace, London NW.
1894 There is the following entry on the England and Wales National Probate Calendar
MICKLEFIELD, William Fayers of Colchester gentleman died 17 December 1894 Probate Ipswich 22 February to Charles Edward Denton solicitor and Charles Evelyn Fayres Micklefield commercial traveller Effect £1343 4s 10d.
1897 - address at marriage - 551 High Road, Leytonstone, Essex
1901 Census - 126 Grange Park Road, Leyton, Essex
1911 3 Brunswick Road, Leyton, Essex.
  2. 1839 1 Charles Street, Langham, Marylebone, Westminster, London (baptism of Sarah)
1841 Census 1 Charles Street, Manchester Square, Marylebone, Middlesex. With the family was a John PORRIDGE age 15 a male servant and a Mary HEARNE aged 15 a Female servant.
1851 Census - Beach, Lowestoft, Suffolk. The CROWFOOT children appear to be staying with a Benjamin COOK a Bathing Machine Proprietor who was born in Lowestoft. His wife is Charlotte an Assistant Bathing Machine Proprietor also born in Lowestoft and both are 46 year of age. I have put down the wife as she might be the one related to the CROWFOOT family. There are then nine COOK children which I will not list and then down as Lodgers are the CROWFOOT children
1861 Census - The Zetland Army Public House, Bats Street, Brompton, Kensington St Mary Abbott, Middlesex. (That is what the public house seems to be named) There were servants and lodgers as well with the family.
1881 Census - 62 Gloucester Crescent, Regents Park, St Pancras, Middlesex. There was a Servant, a Margaret LUNEMAN, age 49 a General Servant, born Kensington, London
1891 Census - 62 Gloucester Crescent, St Pancras, Middlesex.
  3. 1861 Census - 4 Plains of Waterloo, Ramsgate, Kent.
1871 Census - 30 Plains of Waterloo, Ramsgate, Kent.
1891 Census - 44 Tubbs Road, Willesden, Middlesex, Living with Maud and Charles was Maud's mother Ann, a widow aged 73 born Ramsgate, Kent.
1897 34 Beachcroft Road, Leytonstone, Essex. The BMD shows the marriage of Charles MICKLEFIELD in 1897 to a Maud LLOYD which is where the LLOYD comes in, but as we know he was living with Maud in 1891. Donald KNIGHT has sent me the marriage certificate of Charles MICKLEFIELD and Maud LLOYD in  1897 which shows Maud as a widow so confirming this aspect of the chart above and also her Father as Frederick Mann KNIGHT (deceased) a Mariner.
1901 Census - 126 Grange Park Road, Leyton, Essex
1911 3 Brunswick Road, Leyton, Essex.
1920 9 Chichester Road, Leytonstone, Essex (address at death)
  4. The BMD shows the marriage of Charles MICKLEFIELD in 1897 to a Maud LLOYD which is where the LLOYD comes in, but as we know he was living with Maud in 1891.  However we think she gave herself the name LLOYD and the child was born out of wedlock. It is possible that the father of this child had the name LLOYD.
  5. 1863 4 Rupert Terrace, Camden Town, Middlesex (baptism of Maria)
1871 Census - ?B Great Brompton Road, Kensington, Middlesex. (With her maternal grandparents on this census)
1881 Census - 62 Gloucester Crescent, Regents Park, St Pancras, Middlesex. There was a Servant, a Margaret LUNEMAN, age 49 a General Servant, born Kensington, London
1891 Census - 62 Gloucester Crescent, St Pancras, Middlesex.
1901 Census - 109 St Thomas Road, Highbury, Islington, Middlesex. Maria the eldest sister was head of Household. All three sister were together but no parents, but of course they were 37, 36 and 34 year old, all living on their own means.
1911 109 St Thomas Road, Islington, London. Maria is Head, with her is her sister Emily.
1938 National Probate. Maria Lucretia MICKLEFIELD of 31 Ospringe-road St. Pancras London N.W.5 spinster died 28 May 1939 Probate London 14 July to Marie de Courcey Hall Bain Spinster. Effects £589 9s 5d.
  6. 1865 23 St James? Road (? place - Kensington or Camden)  (baptism of Emily)
1871 Census - 34 Redhill Street, St Pancras, Middlesex. There was a Mary Ann CRAWLEY with the family on this Census
  7. 1867 34 Redhill Street, Camden, Middlesex (baptism of Clara)
1871 Census - 34 Redhill Street, St Pancras, Middlesex. There was a Mary Ann CRAWLEY with the family on this Census
  8. The BMD shows this birth and death and I think it is more than possible that it was a child of Charles and Maud. She is born before they married but we know they were down as man and wife on the 1891 Census even  though Charles was also down as man and wife with Sarah. It would explain why Maud possibly wanted to be shown as having a husband, as she would have been expecting the baby at the time of the Census, it would also explain why her mother was with her. Unfortunately it appears as though the child did not survive to see its first birthday, but as soon as Charles first wife Sarah died, Charles then actually married Maud.
  9. 1881 Census - Plains of Waterloo, Ramsgate, Kent. With his Grandparents
Donald KNIGHT tells met the Arthur V KNIGHT that appears on the 1881 Census was the illegitimate son of Sarah Ann (Maud) KNIGHT and I have shown the details as such. He has sent me the certificate. The informant was S Weatherhead (having looked at the certificate closely I think this is an E not an S but whichever it is we believe this was Elizabeth Sarah KNIGHT a sister of Sarah Ann, who married William Weatherhead. she was present at the birth and gave her address as 21 Radnor Street, Folkstone. The birth was registered on Seventh October 1878 and the Registrar was W P Birch

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
