Although they married in 1878 there is a Richard NEWBY down as born Broughton West, Lancashire (something strange about this as the original entry had Wid. aged 42 then Farmers son, all crossed through and no one is listed who was 42. Then next person is a Matthew OXTER? a Widower aged 62 a Farm Servant born Thwaites, Cumberland so it could have been a mix up with him. Then John HODGSON aged 22 a Farm servant born Binker, Cumberland and an Elizabeth TAYLOR aged 20 a General Servant born Bootle, Cumberland.

With them was a Jacob SINGLETON aged 34 a Farm Servant born West Broughton, Lancashire a William H TYSON aged 15 a Farm servant born West Broughton, Lancashire and an Elizabeth E FALLOWES aged 17 a Domestic Servant born Kirkly in Furness, Lancashire.
