  1. 1871 Upper Gravenhurst, Bedfordshire, William was with his sister a Matilda DENNIS, and a family call GOODHALL where Thomas is the head, I would think they were therefore brother and sister to his wife a Ellen GOODHALL all born Gravenhurst, Bedfordshire.
The occupation of Gardener was given for William on the marriage certificate of May (Mary) Elizabeth DENNIS and Edward HYDE in 1913 as William DENNIS Gardener, deceased.
  2. 1861 Church Street, Colhill, Bedfordshire Father Edward PAGE (43) Ag Lab born Gravenhurst, Bedfordshire, mother Hannah  PAGE (44) born Pavenham, Bedfordshire. Louisa had six siblings on this Census.
1871 Oliver street, Ampthill, Bedfordshire.  Lodging, together with daughter Hannah, with Sarah HILL (36) widow Shop Keeper  born Ampthill, Bedfordshire and her children Emma HILL (8) and Charles HILL (4)  both born Ampthill, Bedfordshire. (Louisa had a Caroline HILL a cousin with them
on the 1881 Census and it is in the same road as the 1881 Census I would think  the HILLs are related to Louisa. Louisa's daughter is shown as Harriet PAGE age 10 months on this census but is shown as Harriet DENNIS on the 1881 Census. This is unlikely as Louisa married John UNDERWOOD in between Harriet's birth and her marriage to William DENNIS
1881 Oliver Street, Ampthill, Bedfordshire as a widow. Living with Louisa and her daughters was cousin Caroline HILL (21) Basket Maker born Ampthill, Bedfordshire
  3. 1871 Clay Pit Lane, Ampthill, Bedfordshire.
  4.
  5. 1871 Oliver Street, Ampthill, Bedfordshire age 10 months as Harriet PAGE. Lodging, together with her mother, with Sarah HILL (36) widow Shopkeeper born  Ampthill Bedfordshire and her two children Emma HILL (8) Charles HILL (4) both born Ampthill, Bedfordshire. As Louisa had cousin Caroline HILL with them  on the 1881 Census, in the same road as the 1881 Census I would think these HILLs  are related to Louisa.
1881 Oliver Street, Ampthill, Bedfordshire as Harriet DENNIS. Living with Louisa, Harriet and Elizabeth DENNIS was a cousin Caroline HILL (21)
Basket Maker born Ampthill, Bedfordshire. On this census Harriet is entered as Harriet DENNIS. She was born in 1870, her mother married John UNDERWOOD in 1871 and after his death married William DENNIS in  1875 so it is unlikely that Harriet was William DENNIS's daughter.
  6. 1881 Oliver Street, Ampthill, Bedfordshire. Living with Louisa, Harriet and May DENNIS was a cousin Caroline HILL (21) Basket Maker born Ampthill, Bedfordshire. On this census Louisa is entered as May DENNIS.
1891 Mullers Orphan House, No 2, The United Parishes of St James and St Paul, Barton Regis,  Ashley, Gloucestershire, I would think she was with her May DENNIS Scholar, born Ampthill, Bedfordshire
  7. 1881 Oliver Street, Ampthill, Bedfordshire. Living with Louisa, Harriet and May DENNIS was a cousin Caroline HILL (21) Basket Maker born Ampthill, Bedfordshire
1891 Mullers Orphan House, No 2, The United Parishes of St James and St Paul, Barton Regis, Ashley, Gloucestershire as Mary Elizabeth. I would think she was with her sister Louisa DENNIS (14) Scholar also born Ampthill,  Bedfordshire
1901 Dunstable Street, Ampthill, Bedfordshire. May was a Cook Domestic on this Census.
1913 26 Buccleuch Street, Kettering, Northamptonshire
1915 26 Buccleuch Street, Kettering, Northamptonshire (Death of husband)
1922 26, Buccleuch St., Kettering, Northamptonshire. (Forces War Records for medals of husband Edward)
1935 At the funeral of Edward HYDE's mother Rebecca
    Information from Julia CAMPBELL 20/2/2003
I, and the family contact I have for Edward's family are still having trouble tracing May Elizabeth DENNIS's birth. There is no May Elizabeth DENNIS in the birth registrations for the right period. We have found a May Elizabeth DENNIS in Ampthill on the 1901 census, born Ampthill, a cook domestic of the right age who I think is probably our May Elizabeth, and I think I have found her and her widowed mother on the 1881 census in Ampthill, but May is then recorded as Elizabeth. If this is indeed our May Elizabeth she was registered as Elizabeth DENNIS Dec. qtr. 1877 Ampthill 3b 381. To confirm that the 1881 census family are the right family I have looked through Ampthill and quite a few of the villages around Ampthill on the 1891 census to find them with no luck so far, so May Elizabeth is still at present a mystery. Since the above was written further research has uncovered more information about this family

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
